My husband and I will be traveling to the Moana Surfrider in May. We have booked an ocean side room in the Diamond Wing. I know there is a small Juliet balcony but is it large enough for a chair? Also, how do we get to the pool. Looks like the grass area in front has no exit to the beach. Do we have to go through the main lobby?
Congratulations on your upcoming stay at the Moana Surfrider! Staying in the Diamond Head Wing, especially an oceanfront room, is a wonderful experience, with classic architecture and historic charm.
Juliet Balcony Size
The Diamond Head Wing oceanfront rooms feature small Juliet-style balconies. These balconies are primarily decorative and meant to provide an open-air view rather than outdoor seating space. Typically, they are not large enough to comfortably accommodate a standard chair. You might be able to step out for photos or fresh air, but they won’t support sitting for extended periods. For balcony seating, other room types or the main tower oceanfront rooms may have larger lanais or verandas.
Access to the Pool
The pool area, known as the Moana Surfrider Pool and Lawn area, is located behind the main hotel building along the beachfront. Guests in the Diamond Wing do not have a direct exit from the grass or Juliet balcony to the pool or beach. Access requires walking through a short interior corridor or going via the main lobby and connecting hallways to reach the pool deck and beachfront. Staff can provide the most direct route upon check-in, but generally it’s a few minutes’ walk through the hotel grounds rather than a door directly outside from the Diamond Wing.
Additional Tips
In summary, your Diamond Wing oceanfront room will give you beautiful views and classic charm, but the Juliet balcony is too small for sitting with a chair, and you will need to walk through the hotel to reach the pool and beach. The experience is still very convenient and provides access to all amenities with just a short stroll.
