Hi, we are driving from Los Angeles to Vegas. Is it relatively easy driving through Vegas (we are staying at the Venetian) as those multiple lanes look daunting! Would it be easier dropping the car off at Harry Reid and getting taxi to the hotel or are we being silly and there is an easier route of getting to the Venetian?
Also can't see car companies picking up the hire car from The Venentian (we don't need a car in Vegas itself).
Grateful for your expertise!
Thanks
Driving through Las Vegas can seem daunting, especially when you're coming from Los Angeles and entering the busy streets near the Strip. However, it's actually relatively straightforward, and many visitors drive to and from the Strip without too much trouble. If you're staying at the Venetian, here's some advice:
1. Driving to the Venetian: The Venetian is located right on the Strip, so you'll likely be driving on or near Las Vegas Boulevard. There are several multi-lane roads, but as long as you pay attention to the signs and use your GPS, it shouldn't be too complicated. Keep in mind, traffic can be heavy at times, especially during peak hours or weekends. The drive itself from the I-15 highway to the Venetian usually takes about 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
2. Dropping off the car at Harry Reid Airport: It can be convenient to return the rental car at Harry Reid Airport (LAS) and then take a taxi or rideshare to the hotel. However, it’s important to know that taxi or rideshare fares from the airport to the Venetian are usually around $15–$25, depending on traffic. The car rental return is straightforward at the airport, and you can easily grab a taxi or Uber from there. If you're not comfortable driving in busy Vegas traffic, this might be the most stress-free option.
3. Car Rental Pickup from the Venetian: If you're concerned about picking up or returning your car from The Venetian, many rental car companies in Vegas offer a shuttle service to and from hotels, but not all will pick up from individual hotels. It’s best to call the car rental company in advance and confirm the specifics. Some companies, such as Enterprise, will have locations at or near hotels on the Strip where you can return your car without needing to go to the airport. Another option is using a concierge or valet service to arrange for the rental return.
In summary, it’s not silly at all to consider dropping the car off at the airport. If you’re not planning to use the car during your time in Las Vegas, taking a taxi or rideshare from Harry Reid Airport to The Venetian can save you the hassle of navigating the busy streets and finding parking at the hotel. However, if you feel comfortable driving and prefer the flexibility of keeping the car until your check-out, driving directly to the Venetian is totally doable.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your time in Las Vegas!
