Swap Meet Favs

Hi folks! We haven’t been to Maui for 6 years. We are planning on going to the swap meet over our visit. In the past our finds were based off trip advisor rec’s. We found discounted pottery, Jeff’s jams and jellies, art by Lloyd and the guys found aloha shirts from a little second hand stand.

So… anything new to note. Fun finds?

Thanks in advance!

The Maui Swap Meet is always evolving, and it’s a fantastic place to find local products, crafts, and unique souvenirs. While some favorites like Jeff’s jams and jellies, and aloha shirts remain staples, there are a few new highlights and trends to note if you’re visiting after several years.

First, expect an even wider variety of handmade items from local artisans. Beyond pottery and traditional souvenirs, you’ll find more contemporary Hawaiian art, jewelry, and home décor. Many vendors are showcasing eco-friendly and sustainable products, which is a fun change from past years.

  • Local Foods & Treats: Fresh tropical fruits, macadamia nut snacks, poke bowls, and gourmet honey. Some new vendors offer flavored sea salts and artisanal chocolates.
  • Handmade Jewelry & Accessories: Beaded necklaces, shell earrings, and locally designed bracelets—perfect gifts or personal keepsakes.
  • Clothing & Vintage Finds: Besides aloha shirts, check for hand-dyed dresses, surf-inspired T-shirts, and occasionally vintage or upcycled clothing items.
  • Art & Crafts: Watercolor prints, wood carvings, and small-scale paintings from local artists, often more affordable than gallery prices.
  • Home Goods & Kitchen Items: Handmade soaps, candles, woven baskets, and unique ceramics (like the pottery you mentioned).

Tips for the swap meet experience:

  • Arrive early for the best selection, especially if looking for food items or popular artisanal products.
  • Bring cash in small bills as some vendors may not accept cards.
  • Be ready to haggle gently on prices—it’s common and part of the fun.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen; it can get hot and crowded.

Overall, while some beloved staples remain, the swap meet has grown with new artisanal, foodie, and handmade options that make each visit fresh and exciting. Keep an eye out for unique items that are distinctly Maui-made to bring home a true piece of the island.
