Anniversary dinner

Hi- my husband and I are coming in June and staying at the Hyatt House Downtown, as we want to be close walking distance to the Aquarium, Coca Cola Museum, Centennial Park, etc. We are looking for a nice place one night for an anniversary dinner. We will not have a car and we are okay to uber/lyft to dinner, although would want something with 5-10 minutes driving distance. Places like Nikolai's Roof, Polaris are way too expensive for us. We were considering Rays in the City, but open to other options in the area. Thanks!

Happy anniversary! It sounds like you're looking for a special yet budget-friendly dinner spot near downtown Atlanta, and you're in luck—there are plenty of great options that are within a short ride from your hotel.

Since you’re staying close to Centennial Park and the major attractions like the Aquarium and Coca-Cola Museum, here are some wonderful dining options that offer a great atmosphere for an anniversary dinner without the sky-high prices of places like Nikolai's Roof or Polaris:

  • Ray’s in the City: Since you mentioned Ray’s, this is definitely a solid choice! Located in the heart of downtown, it offers a variety of fresh seafood and steak options in a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. It's known for its great service and is just a short ride from your hotel.
  • South City Kitchen (Midtown): A little more casual but still a great option, South City Kitchen serves up Southern comfort food with a modern twist. It’s perfect for a cozy, intimate dinner and features an excellent wine list. It’s a 10-minute drive from your hotel, making it a convenient choice.
  • The Capital Grille (Midtown): If you’re looking for a place with great steaks and a fine dining atmosphere, The Capital Grille is a classic option. It’s upscale but not overly pricey, with a wide range of options from steaks to seafood. It’s located a little further out, but it’s still within a 10-minute drive from downtown.
  • Alma Cocina (Downtown): If you're in the mood for Latin American cuisine, Alma Cocina offers delicious dishes in a chic, modern setting. It’s vibrant but still intimate enough for a romantic evening. Plus, it’s right in downtown, so it’s incredibly convenient.
  • White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails (Downtown): Another great option for Southern-inspired cuisine. White Oak offers an upscale but comfortable atmosphere with great cocktails, making it perfect for a special occasion. It’s located just a few minutes from your hotel.
  • One Flew South (Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, but close): If you don't mind a quick ride to the airport area, One Flew South is often considered one of the best dining experiences in Atlanta. It offers Southern-inspired dishes and a beautiful ambiance. The ride is about 10-15 minutes from downtown, and it’s worth it if you're looking for something unique.

All of these options are well within your desired price range and offer great ambiance for an anniversary dinner. Whether you're in the mood for classic Southern fare or something with a bit of international flair, you’ll find something to suit your tastes. Enjoy your special evening in Atlanta!
