Extra bed at Disney resort hotel rooms?
My wife, my daughter and I are visiting WDW this coming end of May/early June. We plan to spend ~1.5wks there (our first time). We plan to stay at one of the resort's hotel for the convenience of proximity to the parks. Pop Century is our current choice. All standard rooms come with 2 queen beds. Can I request an extra bed (or cot)? We don't need other amenities of upgrading to a suite at twice the cost. Just an extra bed.
Thanks,
At Disney’s Value Resorts like Pop Century, the standard rooms are designed to sleep up to 4 guests in two queen beds. Unfortunately, Disney does not provide extra beds or cots in standard rooms. This policy is consistent across Value, Moderate, and Deluxe Resorts.
Here are some practical options if you want to accommodate three adults comfortably without upgrading to a suite:
- Use the existing beds creatively: Depending on the size of the adults, two can share a queen bed while the third sleeps in the second bed. Some guests also bring a portable foam mattress or foldable travel bed, but you would need to ensure it fits safely and follows resort fire and safety codes.
- Consider a room with a sleeper sofa: Some Moderate and Deluxe Resort rooms include a sleeper sofa, which can be a practical way to accommodate a third adult without paying for a suite. Examples include the Moderate Resorts like Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside, though these are more expensive than Pop Century.
- Book two rooms or a family suite: If privacy or comfort is a priority, a two-room villa or family suite may be worth considering. While this costs more than a standard room, it guarantees proper sleeping arrangements for three adults without compromise.
Additional tips:
- Check with Disney Reservations—they sometimes can advise on specific room configurations that may be more spacious within the same resort category.
- Keep in mind that Pop Century is one of the Value Resorts, so amenities like extra beds are generally not offered. The focus is on affordability and proximity to the parks.
- Travel light if you plan to bring any personal portable bed—it must be safe and comply with fire regulations.
In summary, Disney standard rooms do not allow cots or extra beds. You can either manage with the two queen beds, upgrade to a room with a sleeper sofa, or consider a villa/family suite if an additional bed is essential.
