Beverly Grove

My husband, our 8 year old and myself are visiting for 2 nights next month and still need to pick a hotel. Originally we were thinking of staying in Santa Monica but have been made aware of the Beverly grove area. We will have a car to go see things we want. For the hotel we would like something clean, safe and walking distance to a few restaurants so we don’t have to drive everywhere. We are considering the Beverly Laurel as the price is very good and includes free parking but I can’t tell if this is a nice hotel or not. Does anyone have experience staying here? Pros or cons?

Thank you

Beverly Grove is a great area to stay in Los Angeles, especially if you have a car. It’s centrally located between West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and the Mid-Wilshire area, making it convenient for sightseeing while still being quieter and more residential than tourist-heavy areas like Santa Monica. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shopping options within walking distance, which is ideal for a family looking to minimize driving.

The Beverly Laurel Hotel is a boutique hotel in this neighborhood. It often gets good reviews for being clean, stylish, and reasonably priced compared to other nearby hotels. One of its big advantages is free parking, which is a huge bonus in LA. The location is also safe and walkable, with several casual and mid-range restaurants nearby.

Some things to consider about the Beverly Laurel:

  • Pros:
    • Clean and modern rooms with quirky, fun décor.
    • Good value for the area, often cheaper than Santa Monica hotels.
    • Free on-site parking, which is rare in central LA.
    • Close to The Grove, Beverly Center, and Melrose Avenue for shopping and dining.
    • Safe neighborhood with easy access to major LA attractions.
  • Cons:
    • Some rooms are small, which could be tight for a family of three.
    • No on-site pool, so if swimming is a priority, you might need to drive to a nearby pool or beach.
    • It’s not beachfront, so if your heart was set on ocean views, Santa Monica would be better.
    • Traffic in LA can still be heavy, so plan your drives with extra time.

Other hotel options in Beverly Grove or nearby that are family-friendly include:

  • Kimpton La Peer Hotel – stylish, safe, and in West Hollywood, short drive to Beverly Grove.
  • Loews Hollywood Hotel – central location, larger rooms, pool on-site.
  • JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE – if you want more amenities and are willing to drive to restaurants.

Overall, if your priorities are safety, walkable restaurants, and a centrally located, clean, reasonably priced hotel with parking, Beverly Laurel is a solid choice. It’s convenient for exploring West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and even a short drive to Santa Monica or Hollywood attractions without the premium cost of staying directly in those neighborhoods.
