Hotel with Thanksgiving Dinner?

Hi,

Considering a trip from NYC to Sonoma Valley (4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids, ages 10 and 14) in November and wondering if there is a nice secluded ranch or farm we could stay at that might offer a Thanksgiving of sorts? We aren't big into the meal but would like it to feel festive!

Thanks,

Sabrina

Hi Sabrina,

Sonoma Valley in November is a wonderful choice for a cozy, festive getaway. While many hotels and resorts offer standard accommodations, a few properties in the region have a more intimate, ranch or farm-like atmosphere and may host Thanksgiving events or provide a special holiday meal experience. Even if the full meal isn’t your priority, these places often focus on seasonal décor, family-friendly activities, and a festive ambiance that makes the holiday feel special.

Here are some options to consider:

  • MacArthur Place Hotel & Spa – Located in downtown Sonoma, this historic estate hotel often has Thanksgiving packages or special seasonal menus at their on-site restaurant. The setting is elegant yet intimate, with gardens and a relaxed atmosphere that suits families.
  • Kenwood Inn and Spa – Nestled in the hills near Kenwood, this boutique inn has a charming ranch-like vibe. Some years they offer Thanksgiving dinners or you can reserve a private meal experience. The grounds are quiet, perfect for a small family escape.
  • Sonoma Valley Ranch B&Bs and Farm Stays – There are a few small ranches and working farms around Sonoma (for example, Blacksmith Ranch or local Airbnb farm stays) that offer private accommodations and sometimes a Thanksgiving meal or can help coordinate a local chef. These are more secluded and give that authentic farm feel.
  • Harvest Inn by Charlie Palmer – A classic Sonoma option with cozy rooms, fireplaces, and sometimes Thanksgiving specials at their restaurant. The property feels festive and warm, with great grounds for kids to explore.

Since Thanksgiving is a popular travel time, it’s best to book early and check directly with the property about special holiday offerings. If none of the hotels have a formal Thanksgiving dinner, many Sonoma Valley restaurants also host Thanksgiving meals, which could be paired with a stay at one of the smaller, quieter inns for a combined experience.

Other tips for a festive stay:

  • Consider booking a property with a fireplace or outdoor seating so you can enjoy the fall ambiance, even if you don’t have a formal dinner onsite.
  • Look for accommodations near wineries or farms that offer seasonal activities such as pumpkin picking, hiking, or small festivals.
  • Check local Sonoma Valley tourism sites for Thanksgiving events like wine tastings, craft markets, or community dinners.

With a mix of a charming rural setting and access to Sonoma’s culinary scene, you can have a cozy, festive Thanksgiving experience without feeling obliged to a large formal meal. November is also quieter than the peak summer months, so a secluded ranch or farm stay will feel more peaceful.

Enjoy your trip and the festive Sonoma Valley experience!
