How to get zhangjiajie from xiamen airport

I am planning to visit zhangjiajie from xiamen. What is the best way to get there instead of flying over. Can I take a train direct from Xiamen to Zhangiiagile and what is the nearest station there.

Traveling from Xiamen to Zhangjiajie by train is possible, but there is no direct high-speed train connecting the two cities. The journey usually involves a transfer at a major hub such as Changsha, Hengyang, or Guangzhou, depending on the train you choose. Xiamen has several railway stations, with Xiamen Railway Station and Xiamen North Railway Station being the main departure points for long-distance trains.

The nearest railway station to Zhangjiajie city is Zhangjiajie Railway Station, located about 5–10 km from the city center. From there, you can take a taxi or local bus to your hotel or the National Forest Park.

Travel options by train include:

  • Take a high-speed train from Xiamen North to Changsha South, then transfer to a high-speed train from Changsha South to Zhangjiajie. Total travel time is approximately 9–11 hours depending on transfer times.
  • Take a conventional (slower) train from Xiamen to Hengyang or Changsha, then transfer to a train heading to Zhangjiajie. This option is longer (about 15–18 hours) but may be cheaper and have overnight sleeper options.
  • Consider breaking the journey into two segments with an overnight stop in Changsha to reduce fatigue.
