Looking for a quiet tutoring space that would be appropriate for 2 adults somewhere between the north FLorida line and JTB (202)/UNF area. Sorry that is all the information I have right now.. trying to set up private speech therapy as the therapist is only licensed in Florida. UNF campus libraries are an obvious choice but perhaps other suggestions such as a coffee house. Saw a few using Google but unable to ascertain suitability & if they meet location reauirements online...Southern Grounds, Brass Tacks, Bold Bean, Sago, etc. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Finding a quiet and suitable space for private tutoring or speech therapy in Jacksonville, especially between the North Florida line and the JTB/UNF area, requires balancing accessibility, noise level, and seating arrangements. There are a few types of venues that may work well depending on your needs.
Here are some options to consider:
- University Libraries: UNF campus libraries are excellent choices as they offer quiet study rooms, private spaces, and professional environments. Some libraries may require a booking or have policies on non-student use, so contacting them in advance is recommended.
- Coffee Shops and Cafes: Certain local coffee shops have quieter areas suitable for one-on-one sessions. Based on your list, some options include:
- Southern Grounds – Known for spacious seating and generally quiet mornings.
- Brass Tacks – Smaller, cozy café with a calm environment, good for focused conversations.
- Bold Bean Coffee Roasters – Typically quieter during weekdays, with comfortable seating.
- Sago Coffee – Casual café that can offer a quieter atmosphere depending on the time of day.
- Shared Workspaces or Co-Working Spaces: Jacksonville has several co-working facilities that allow booking private meeting rooms for hourly rates. Examples include COhatch, Main Street Workspaces, and CO.STARTERS. These spaces are ideal for professional tutoring sessions as they are private and quiet.
- Public Libraries: Jacksonville Public Library branches often have private study rooms that can be reserved in advance. Many branches near UNF or Southside (near JTB) have small meeting rooms suitable for two adults and quiet sessions.
Additional tips:
- Check operating hours and availability ahead of time, especially for libraries and cafes, as noise levels can fluctuate.
- Consider booking a private room in a co-working space if confidentiality and minimal distractions are a priority.
- Visiting a few cafés during your intended session time can help gauge noise and seating comfort before committing.
In summary, the best options are likely a reserved study room at UNF or a public library, or a quiet café during off-peak hours. For maximum privacy and consistent quiet, co-working spaces with private rooms are a strong alternative.
