Four Seasons Lanai questions
Trying to find info on the FSL transportation. Thanks in advance for any help. Did anyone have experience with a pickup at Lanai City Airport rather than the private plane? If so, what are the planes from HNL to Lanai? Thanks.
Getting to the Four Seasons Lanai (FSL) can be done via their private plane transfer from Honolulu (HNL) or by flying into Lanai City Airport (LNY) on a commercial flight. Both options are feasible, but they have different logistics and experiences.
Private plane transfer through FSL:
- The Four Seasons Lanai operates its own private shuttle flights from Honolulu. These are small, propeller-driven aircraft (typically 9–19 seat turboprops like the Island Air Cessna Grand Caravan in the past) exclusively for hotel guests.
- The resort picks up passengers directly at Honolulu Airport or a private terminal, and then lands at Lanai Airport. From the airport, FSL provides a short shuttle to the resort. The flight time is about 30 minutes.
- This option is seamless and often includes luggage handling, check-in assistance, and a more luxurious start to your stay.
Commercial flights to Lanai City Airport:
- Lanai City Airport (LNY) is served by small commercial carriers, historically including Hawaiian Airlines with daily flights from Honolulu. These are small aircraft, usually 9–19 seats (like a Cessna Caravan or similar). Schedules are limited, so checking ahead is essential.
- From Lanai Airport, FSL offers ground transfers (typically a 20–30 minute shuttle ride) to the resort. You can coordinate pickup with the hotel concierge once your flight is booked.
- This is a good option if you prefer a regular flight rather than a private charter, but you’ll need to align your travel schedule with the airline’s limited departures.
Notes and tips:
- Both options are safe and quick; the main difference is convenience and flexibility. Private transfers are more tailored but can be more expensive, whereas commercial flights are scheduled but still provide access to Lanai.
- Check with FSL for current pickup procedures, as the resort concierge can arrange ground transportation from Lanai Airport for either arrival method.
- Luggage restrictions on both small prop planes are stricter than commercial jets, so check baggage allowance ahead of time.
In summary, if you want the most seamless experience with resort-arranged timing and luxury service, the private plane transfer is ideal. If you prefer commercial flights from Honolulu or have scheduling constraints, Lanai City Airport is a viable alternative, and FSL will handle the shuttle to the resort from there.
