Any Luaus that don't have crowded seating?

Looking for a luau that does not have community seating. We would rather have as much privacy space as possible. Is there such a thing?

Yes, there are luaus on Oahu that offer more private seating, avoiding the traditional communal table style. Most of the larger, commercial luaus in Waikīkī or Ko Olina have long tables where many guests are seated together, which can feel crowded. If privacy and a more intimate experience are your priority, you’ll want to look for luaus that provide private tables, VIP seating, or smaller boutique-style events.

Options to consider:

  • Paradise Cove Luau (Ko Olina) – Offers “Premium” and “VIP” seating options closer to the stage with tables spaced further apart. While not completely private, these sections have fewer people per table and more personal space.
  • Chief’s Luau at Wet’n’Wild (Kapolei) – Smaller venue with the option to reserve private tables. The VIP area allows your group to have their own space and better view of the performance.
  • KA MOANA Luau / Boutique luaus – There are smaller, off-the-beaten-path luaus that host fewer guests. Some are private property luaus or family-run events that can accommodate private tables for your party, offering a more intimate experience.

Tips for maximizing privacy:

  • Contact the luau directly to request a private or semi-private table. Many luaus have tables reserved for small parties even if it’s not listed online.
  • Book early, as VIP and private table options are limited and tend to sell out quickly.
  • Consider luaus outside Waikīkī — Ko Olina, Kapolei, or the North Shore often have more spacious grounds and fewer guests, allowing for a less crowded feel.

Summary: While completely private luaus are rare, many of the premium seating options at established luaus or small boutique luaus will give your party more space and a more intimate setting. Direct communication with the luau staff is key to securing the best experience.
