Clothing in February
Hi, we are coming the last week of February and being from Michigan not sure what all type of clothes to pack. Not a fancy type of person and definitely not a bar person. So anything suggestions are welcome.
Visiting Key West in late February is generally very pleasant, with mild to warm temperatures. The highs are usually in the mid-70s to low 80s °F (24-28°C), and evenings can cool down to the mid-60s °F (18-20°C). Since you’re coming from Michigan, you’ll probably find it quite comfortable compared to winter back home.
Here’s a breakdown of what to pack considering your preferences for casual wear and not being into bars or fancy events:
- Daytime Clothing: Lightweight t-shirts, short-sleeve shirts, and casual shorts are perfect for daytime exploration. Breathable fabrics like cotton or linen are ideal.
- Evening Layers: Bring a light sweater, hoodie, or long-sleeve shirt for cooler evenings or if you’re out by the water.
- Pants/Jeans: A couple of pairs of casual pants or jeans for evenings or more comfortable walking around town.
- Swimwear: Even if you don’t plan to swim every day, packing a swimsuit is a good idea for pool time, hotel beaches, or spontaneous water activities.
- Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers for exploring the town and sightseeing. Sandals or flip-flops for beach or poolside.
- Accessories: Sunglasses, a sunhat or cap, and sunscreen for protection from the strong Florida sun. A light rain jacket is optional but can come in handy if you hit an occasional shower.
Optional items depending on your activities:
- A casual daypack for carrying water, snacks, or souvenirs while walking around.
- Camera or phone for capturing the scenic Key West streets and sunsets.
- Lightweight scarf or wrap if you plan to sit by the water in the evening—it can get breezy.
Overall, Key West in February is very laid-back, so most casual, comfortable clothing will work perfectly. You won’t need anything formal unless you plan a special dinner, and layering is key for transitioning from warm days to cooler nights.
