Hotel St Pierre alternatives

So as expected, we're planning our return to New Orleans. While we enjoyed the location and staff of St Pierre, amenities and room were less than anticipated. Looking for good alternatives in the same vicinity

If you liked the charm, location, and friendly feel of Hotel St. Pierre but felt the rooms and amenities didn’t meet expectations, there are several excellent alternatives in the same part of the French Quarter. This area is perfect for quiet nights, easy walking, and that classic historic atmosphere—so sticking nearby is a great choice.

The hotels below offer a similar historic vibe or courtyard-style layout, but with more polished rooms, better amenities, or upgraded comfort. All are within a short walk of St. Peter, Burgundy, Dumaine, and Rampart Streets.

Here are some strong alternatives that balance charm, comfort, and location:

  • Hotel Provincial – A favorite for those wanting historic buildings and courtyards but with far more updated rooms. The location on Chartres Street is quiet, close to the river, and beautifully maintained.
  • Place d’Armes Hotel – Very similar in charm to St. Pierre, with beautiful courtyards and a classic French Quarter feel, but generally more consistent room quality. Right off Jackson Square.
  • Hotel Le Marais – More modern boutique style with better amenities. Still in the Quarter but tucked just enough off Bourbon to stay quiet.
  • Dauphine Orleans Hotel – Historic but with more refined interiors, plus a great pool and a location convenient to everything.
  • Bourbon Orleans Hotel – Larger property but still very atmospheric; great service, lovely courtyard pool, and stylish rooms.

If you’re looking for something even more polished, with amenities closer to upper-end boutique standards, you can step slightly outside the immediate St. Pierre area while still staying in the quieter parts of the Quarter.

  • Maison de la Luz (on the edge of the Quarter) – Upscale, artistic, serene, and impeccably designed. Great for a splurge.
  • One11 Hotel – New, beautifully renovated, and sleek. Still walking distance to everything but quieter than the central Quarter.
  • Hotel Monteleone – Classic New Orleans luxury with strong service and a fantastic location; rooms are much more consistent than smaller historic inns.

If what you loved most at St. Pierre was the quiet, the courtyards, and the historic vibe, then Place d’Armes and Hotel Provincial are your two closest matches, with noticeably better room quality. If you want something more modern while staying in the Quarter, Le Marais or One11 would be ideal.
