Waikiki recs for visitors needing kitchen facilities

Hi! I am planning a group trip to Oahu in the spring/early summer and would like to stay on Waikiki.

One of our members will need a kitchen. They are also not able to walk far and will need to rest during the day. I was thinking that a place with a balcony and ocean view will help them feel better while they rest and the group is out and about exploring.

The others in the group are fine with a hotel and don't need a kitchen - their only requirement is easy and close beach access.

Does anyone familiar with Oahu have any recommendations on where to start my search?

For a group trip to Waikiki where one person requires a kitchen and minimal walking, it’s best to consider condo-style accommodations or serviced apartments right on or very close to the beach. This way, the member with the kitchen can have their needs met, enjoy ocean views, and rest on a balcony while the rest of the group explores. The other members can stay in nearby hotels with easy beach access.

Options for condos or vacation rentals with kitchens in Waikiki:

  • Aston Waikiki Beach Tower — Offers one- and two-bedroom condos with full kitchens, ocean or partial ocean views, and accessible elevators. Walking distance to the beach is very short.
  • Moana Surfrider / Beachside Condos — Some units offer kitchenettes or full kitchens; located directly on the beach, many with private balconies. Accessible for those needing minimal walking.
  • Ilima Hotel & Suites or Aston at the Waikiki Banyan — Full kitchens or kitchenettes, pools, and ocean-view options. Both properties have elevators and are centrally located for convenience.
  • Waikiki Shore or Kalia Condos — Direct beach access, units with full kitchens, and balconies. Elevators available for minimal walking between rooms and outdoor areas.

Options for group members preferring hotel-style accommodations:

  • Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort — Directly on the sand, excellent beach access, and amenities without requiring a kitchen.
  • Hilton Hawaiian Village or Hyatt Regency Waikiki — Both offer beachfront access, pools, and easy walking paths to restaurants and shops.
  • Royal Hawaiian Hotel or Sheraton Waikiki — Iconic hotels with great beach access, central location, and luxury amenities.

When planning, consider booking a condo with a kitchen for the member who needs it and nearby hotel rooms for the others. Make sure the condo unit is on a floor with an elevator and ideally has a balcony with an ocean view. This setup allows everyone to enjoy the beach and Waikiki attractions while accommodating special needs comfortably.
