Where can a group of 8 women stay

We are a group of 8 women who meet once a year to spend time together. We prefer to stay at a house but we need to find one to rent with at least 8 separate beds and a good amount of bathrooms. I have been looking on VRBO etc and can't seem to find one to fit. The other option is to find a B and B where we can just rent the entire house but again, need 8 rooms. We like to have a common area where we can hang out and not worry about bothering others. We would like to stay in the Boothbay area but are willing to be out of town a bit and can drive around to check out the area. This is for mid-September of next year. Any advice appreciated!

Finding accommodations for a group of 8 women in the Boothbay Harbor area can be a bit challenging, especially if you want private beds for everyone and plenty of bathrooms. Early planning is key since mid-September is still part of the late summer/early fall tourist season in Maine.

Vacation Rentals: While VRBO and similar platforms are the primary sources, searching for keywords like “8+ bedrooms,” “entire house,” or “large estate” may help narrow results. Properties slightly outside Boothbay Harbor, such as in Southport, Edgecomb, or Boothbay, may offer larger houses suitable for your group.

  • Consider properties marketed as “estate” or “luxury coastal home” — these often have multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and large common spaces.
  • Check nearby towns within a 15–20 minute drive of Boothbay Harbor, like Wiscasset, Damariscotta, or Edgecomb, which may have larger homes.
  • Filter listings for “entire place” to ensure you have privacy and control over the property for your group.

B&B or Inn Rentals: Some bed and breakfasts or boutique inns allow renting the whole property, especially in the off-season. This can give you multiple private rooms, common areas, and the charm of a traditional Maine inn.

  • Look for B&Bs advertising 8 or more rooms or that are open to negotiating full-property rentals.
  • Check if they provide common gathering spaces like living rooms, porches, or dining areas where your group can relax without disturbing others.

Other Tips:

  • Book as early as possible — large properties in the Boothbay Harbor area are limited and tend to fill quickly.
  • Reach out to local property management companies; they sometimes have access to private homes not listed online.
  • Consider splitting the group into two nearby houses if a single 8-bedroom rental is not available; ensure both have common spaces for group gatherings.
  • Mid-September is ideal because the crowds are lighter than July/August, but you’ll still want to secure the property soon.

In summary, focus your search on large vacation homes or B&Bs willing to rent the whole property, consider nearby towns, and start the booking process early. With flexibility and a proactive approach, your group should find a comfortable place to stay with ample privacy and shared areas to enjoy.
