Amtrak arrival assistance

We (my husband and I are in our 60's and physically fit) are arriving on Amtrak @ midnight on Tuesday 11/4 (yes I know it could be late)

Looking for a safe place to sleep nearby? Is there uber/Lyft available. Is it safe to walk around with luggage?

Only staying the night. My sister is picking us up in the morning.

Arriving in Kingman at midnight does limit your options, but there are still ways to ensure a safe and comfortable overnight stay.

Accommodations: Your best bet is to stay at a hotel close to the Amtrak station to minimize travel at night. Some nearby options include:

  • Best Western Plus A Wayfarer’s Inn and Suites: Approximately 1 mile from the station, offers 24-hour front desk service and is considered safe for late arrivals.
  • Comfort Inn & Suites: About 1.5 miles from the station, well-reviewed for cleanliness and safety, with late check-in possible if notified in advance.
  • La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kingman: Around 1.5 miles away, with late check-in options and secure parking.

Transportation: Uber and Lyft do operate in Kingman, though service may be limited late at night. To be safe, it’s recommended to pre-book a ride if possible, or call the hotel to see if they can provide a shuttle or arrange a taxi pick-up.

Safety: Walking around Kingman at midnight, especially with luggage, is not recommended. The area around the station is relatively quiet and well-lit, but it’s better to use a car service or hotel shuttle to reach your lodging. Carry minimal valuables and remain aware of your surroundings.

Tips:

  • Call your chosen hotel ahead to inform them of your late arrival to ensure they are prepared.
  • Keep a flashlight or phone light handy if you need to walk from the station to your transport pickup.
  • Have your ride arranged in advance to avoid waiting outside in the cold or dark.

In summary, stay at a hotel within 1-2 miles of the Amtrak station, use Uber/Lyft or a pre-arranged hotel shuttle, and avoid walking around late at night with luggage for safety.
