Taxis or Ubers
We will be staying at the longboat key resort without a car. I was wondering if we were to venture in to shore or dry dock restaurants or Annamarie Island if we would be able to get a taxi or an Uber
Longboat Key is a relatively quiet and residential area, so transportation options are more limited than in larger cities. While taxis and rideshares like Uber and Lyft do operate on Longboat Key, availability can sometimes be inconsistent, especially during off-peak hours or in more remote areas such as around the resort or near Anna Maria Island.
Here are some key points to consider:
- Uber & Lyft: These services are available, but wait times may be longer than in urban areas. It is recommended to schedule rides in advance if possible, especially for dinner reservations or planned trips to Anna Maria Island.
- Local Taxis: A few local taxi companies serve Longboat Key and the surrounding areas. Contacting the resort concierge can be helpful, as they often maintain a list of trusted taxi providers and can call one for you.
- Resort Shuttle or Private Car Service: Some resorts, including the Longboat Key Resort, may offer shuttle services or can arrange private car transportation for guests to nearby attractions or dining areas.
Additional tips:
- Check ride prices and availability ahead of time, particularly if you plan to travel during weekends or evenings.
- If planning to visit Anna Maria Island, consider allocating extra travel time, as the route can experience traffic, and rideshare drivers may take longer to reach you.
- Walking or renting bicycles or golf carts can be convenient for shorter trips along Longboat Key or to nearby beaches and restaurants.
Overall, it is feasible to get around without a car, but careful planning and flexibility are key to avoiding long waits for Uber or taxis.
