The Big Buddha Head is located on Fohui Mountain, southeast of Thousand Buddha Mountain in Jinan City, Shandong Province. There is a huge stone Buddha head statue on the mountain. It was built in the Song Dynasty and was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit by Jinan City in 1979.
A niche has been built above the Buddha statue, inscribed with "Main Hall" by the late Qing scholar Zhang Yinglin. Fohui Mountain, at an altitude of 460 meters, boasts steep peaks, precarious rocks, and winding valleys. It is said that every autumn, the mountain is covered in wild chrysanthemums, dotted among the verdant pines and cypresses. This is where one of the eight scenic spots in Jinan, "Chrysanthemum Viewing in Foshan," was once found.
Jinan has a temperate monsoon climate with obvious monsoons and distinct four seasons: dry and rainy spring, warm and rainy summer, cool and dry autumn, and cold and snowy winter.
