Live music Oldsmar, Clearwater, Safety Harbor?

Does anyone know if there is an app or website that shows where there is live music happening in Oldsmar, Clearwater, or Safety Harbor? I really do not like driving out to Tampa!!! But around here it feels like a hit or miss. Since COVID, a lot of restaurants and bars stopped updating their Facebook or Instagram pages, so I never know when live music is happening anymore.

I am not talking about buying tickets for big concerts. I mean the smaller stuff, like when you go out for dinner or lunch and there is a local band playing, or just someone singing and playing guitar. Am I missing something, or is there really no good way to find this information?

Finding live, small-scale music in the Oldsmar, Clearwater, and Safety Harbor area can be tricky since many local venues don’t consistently update social media after COVID, and there isn’t a single centralized source that covers every small gig. However, there are a few apps, websites, and strategies that can help you track local live music without having to drive into Tampa.

Here are some useful options:

  • Eventbrite: While often used for ticketed events, Eventbrite also lists free or low-cost local music events, including restaurant or bar performances. You can filter by date and location to find small local gigs.
  • Bandsintown: This app/website tracks artists and venues in your area. You can follow local musicians or check nearby towns for live shows, including casual bar or café performances.
  • Yelp & Google Maps: Many local restaurants and bars list “Live Music” in their features or post events on Yelp/Google Maps pages. Checking the event calendar sections for specific bars in Clearwater or Safety Harbor can yield up-to-date information.
  • Local Chamber of Commerce / City Event Calendars: Oldsmar, Clearwater, and Safety Harbor often maintain community calendars that include live music at local breweries, parks, and restaurants.
  • Facebook Events (Filtered by City): Despite some venues not updating, filtering Facebook events by location can still be helpful. Searching for “live music Clearwater” or “live music Safety Harbor” sometimes shows recurring weekly gigs at restaurants or breweries.
  • Specific Venue Websites: Certain local spots are known for live music and often post schedules on their own sites:
    • The Ale and the Witch (Safety Harbor)
    • Safety Harbor Brewing Co.
    • Clearwater Beach bars like Shephard’s Tiki Deck or Jimmy’s Crow’s Nest
    • Local coffee shops and restaurants along Main Street in Safety Harbor

Additional tips to make your search easier:

  • Sign up for newsletters or mailing lists for your favorite local venues; small bars often email weekly lineups.
  • Check Instagram hashtags such as #LiveMusicClearwater, #SafetyHarborMusic, or #OldsmarLive to discover performers and venues posting regularly.
  • Some local blogs and community boards, like Patch.com or local Nextdoor groups, occasionally post updates about live music and weekend events.

In summary, there isn’t a single perfect app that shows every small live music performance in these towns, but using a combination of Eventbrite, Bandsintown, Yelp/Google event listings, venue websites, and local community calendars will give you a fairly comprehensive view. Keeping an eye on social media hashtags and subscribing to newsletters can also help you catch last-minute shows without having to drive into Tampa.
