Introducing Ussuri Shoal

The Ussuri Shoal is my country's northernmost point, located at 53°33'43" north latitude. The national border is the central channel of the Heilongjiang River. Across the river from Russia, the Heilongjiang River flows quietly through primeval forests. Although it is called the Ussuri Shoal, it is actually located on the banks of the Heilongjiang River. The Ussuri Shoal is located in Mohe County, Daxing'anling Prefecture, Heilongjiang Province. China's northernmost point is located here on the main channel of the Heilongjiang River.

Surrounded by primeval forest, mostly larch trees, the area is ablaze with golden yellow in autumn, like stepping into a painting. It's incredibly peaceful.

From the entrance of the Moluo Highway to the Ussuri Shoal is a mountain road of more than 30 kilometers, sometimes straight and sometimes winding. Driving at a high altitude, you can see the primeval forest of Russia on the opposite bank, where green Chinese larch and golden larch are intertwined, and a large river flows quietly through it. It is a beautiful scenery that is hard to find on the earth.

Climate and best time to travel

Mohe City is China's coldest county. Due to the alternating influence of continental and oceanic monsoons, its microclimate varies greatly, with significant local climate variations. Winters, dominated by polar continental air masses, are cold, dry, and long. Summers, influenced by subtropical oceanic air masses, bring concentrated and abundant rainfall, a humid, hot climate, and long sunshine hours, making them ideal for cold-tolerant crops. However, they are prone to flooding and cold weather damage. In spring and autumn, the alternating winter and summer monsoons create a highly variable climate. Spring is characterized by strong winds, low precipitation, dry conditions, and a high risk of forest fires. Autumn temperatures drop sharply, with early frosts and freezing damage common.
