Pickleball?

Where can we play some pickleball during our stay in December. We used to play at the Kilauea neighborhood center. Is this still an option? Days, hours?

Thanks team

Good question — yes, there are some solid places to play pickleball on Kauai near or around Princeville, and the old favorite in Kīlauea is still an option with some caveats.

Pickleball Options Near Princeville / North Shore Kauai:

  • Emmalani Park, Princeville: There are 3 outdoor pickleball courts at 4536 Emmalani Drive, Princeville.
    • These are free, public courts.
    • Nets are portable, so bring or plan to set one up when you arrive.
    • Open daily from about 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM per MainCourt listing.
  • Kīlauea Neighborhood Center Gym: Address is 4260 Keneke St, Kīlauea.
    • There are 3 indoor courts.
    • According to PicklePlay, open-play times are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am–1pm.
    • MainCourt lists it open 9am–9pm on weekdays, though Places2Play notes limited drop-in availability “until further notice.”

Notes & Tips:

  • The Pickleball Association Kauai (PAK) is active and could be a good resource for meeting other players, finding pickup games, or getting updates on court conditions.
  • Be prepared to bring your own nets at the Princeville courts — since the nets are portable, they may not always be set up.
  • If you're hoping for more organized or competitive play, check with PAK or local parks; drop-in times can vary and some courts rotate between tennis/pickleball.

Bottom line: Yes — pickleball is still very much alive near Princeville. Your most convenient option is Emmalani Park in Princeville, which has outdoor courts and full daily hours. If you want indoor or more structured play, the Kīlauea Neighborhood Center Gym is a great fallback (just double-check availability when you’re there). Have fun playing! 🏓
