Well positioned hotel offering shuttle service

Hi all! I’m considering an extended trip to Sarasota and Anna Maria island next October. While I plan to do an extended rental on AMI, I thought it would be fun to spend 3 or 4 nights in Sarasota beforehand.

That said, I do not wish to rent a car. I’d appreciate recommendations for a centrally located hotel which would provide a shuttle to key attractions…..and possibly from the airport. I’m interested in the Ringling Museum, the botanical gardens, Armand’s Circle and maybe Siesta Key beach.

Also…. Would you advise 3 or 4 nights in Sarasota?

Many thanks!!

For a stay in Sarasota without a car, choosing a centrally located hotel with shuttle service is key. Downtown Sarasota is the best area for walking access to restaurants, galleries, and some attractions, and several hotels offer airport shuttles as well as optional local shuttles.

Regarding the length of stay, 3 nights can give you enough time to cover the major attractions at a comfortable pace, but 4 nights would allow a more relaxed schedule, including some leisure time at Siesta Key Beach or exploring local dining and shops.

Some well-positioned hotels to consider:

  • Hyatt Regency Sarasota: Located downtown, close to the Sarasota Bayfront and within walking distance to many restaurants. They offer airport shuttle service and concierge assistance for arranging transportation to attractions such as the Ringling Museum or botanical gardens.
  • The Westin Sarasota: Downtown location, offering shuttle service to and from Sarasota-Bradenton Airport, as well as the ability to arrange rides to key attractions. Good access to restaurants and cultural sites.
  • Hotel Indigo Sarasota: Boutique-style hotel in the downtown area, walkable to shops and dining. They can help coordinate transportation to major attractions and may provide limited shuttle options.

For attractions:

  • Ringling Museum: Plan a half-day visit for the art galleries, Ca’ d’Zan mansion, and gardens.
  • Marie Selby Botanical Gardens: Beautiful and easily accessible, especially if your hotel concierge can arrange shuttle service.
  • Armand’s Circle: Great for shopping, dining, and strolling along the waterfront.
  • Siesta Key Beach: Allocate at least a half-day or full afternoon to enjoy the famous soft white sand and calm waters.

With this setup, 3 nights is sufficient for a focused cultural and sightseeing experience, but if you prefer a more leisurely pace with extra beach time or exploring the dining scene, 4 nights would be ideal.

Finally, check with the hotels in advance about their shuttle schedules and coverage for attractions, as this can vary seasonally and may require booking ahead.
