Terminal 4 Children's Play area
See lots of info about T1 play area, but nothing about the one in T4. The FLL airport site says there is one there. WHat's it like? Anyone have pics? 5 hours post cruise disembarkation to flight in T3. Looking at T4 so we don't have to go through security twice.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) does indeed have a children's play area in Terminal 4, similar to the more widely known one in Terminal 1. While it may not be as large or heavily themed as T1's, it provides a convenient space for kids to burn off some energy before a flight, especially useful if you have a few hours between disembarking a cruise and your departure.
Here’s what you can generally expect at the T4 play area:
- Location: The play area is located post-security, near the gates in the main concourse of Terminal 4. This means you won’t need to go through security twice if you are already cleared in T4.
- Features: The area is typically small but kid-friendly, including soft play structures, a few climbing elements, and sometimes interactive panels suitable for younger children. It’s designed for toddlers to early elementary-age kids.
- Safety: The area is padded and enclosed, allowing parents to keep an eye on children while they play safely. Seating for adults is usually nearby.
- Capacity: It’s not huge, so during peak hours (holidays or post-cruise rush) it may be somewhat crowded. Kids may need to take turns on certain structures.
- Cleanliness: FLL staff generally maintain the area, but hand sanitizer stations nearby are recommended for use before and after play.
Tips for using T4 play area:
- Plan for 15–30 minutes of play; it’s not a large area, so it’s best for a short activity to let kids stretch their legs.
- Bring a small snack or water bottle for kids while they play, though food is generally not allowed inside the play area itself.
- If traveling with strollers, check if there is a designated space for parking them nearby, as the play area is small.
- Because T4 is post-security, you can use the area while waiting for your flight without having to pass through TSA again, which is convenient for your 5-hour layover post-cruise.
Overall, while the T4 play area is modest compared to some airports, it’s a welcome spot for kids to unwind after long travel and before boarding. If you have a 5-hour window, combining a short play session with a meal or lounge time nearby can make the wait much more manageable for families.
