Today I would like to introduce to you one of the most worth-visiting attractions in Guizhou, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest waterfall in Asia - Huangguoshu Waterfall!

This is the largest escalator in Asia. After finishing the tour at the bottom of Huangguoshu, you can climb up the stairs and return to the entrance, or you can continue along the river and buy tickets to ride the escalator.
You first have to go up two floors of stairs to reach the escalator, which is a straight line with two parts and is quite long.
It is recommended to buy a one-way ticket. You can choose to take the escalator down and then walk up, or you can walk down and take the escalator up. You can see many different scenery on the way. It is recommended to buy a round-trip ticket for elderly people and children.

Air: Anshun Huangguoshu Airport is now open for flights. Located in the southern part of the city, six kilometers from the city center, it offers flights to Beijing, Dalian, Qingdao, and Kunming. Alternatively, you can fly to Guiyang. Near Guiyang Railway Station, there are buses and air-conditioned tourist buses to Huangguoshu and Anshun.
Railways: Anshun is connected to other parts of the province via the Sichuan-Guizhou, Hunan-Guizhou, and Guizhou-Guangxi railways. The Huangguoshu tourist train runs daily between Guiyang and Anshun. Buses from Anshun also depart for Huangguoshu Waterfall, Dragon Palace, and nearby scenic spots.
Highway: Guihuang Highway, Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, National Highway 302, Shuihuang Expressway, and Guanxing Expressway can directly reach the Huangguoshu Scenic Area.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area covers 163 square kilometers and comprises three major areas: the Doupotang Scenic Area, the Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area, and the Huangguoshu Waterfall. It is the earliest recorded waterfall in Chinese literature. Xu Xiake, a Ming Dynasty poet, wrote while passing by Huangguoshu Waterfall: "I hear the rumbling sound of water from afar. Gazing north through a gap in the ridge, I suddenly see water cascading down the cliff from the northeastern mountain."

The Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area is 6 kilometers downstream of the Huangguoshu Waterfall and consists of three connected forest areas, namely the Tianxing Bonsai Area, the Tianxing Cave Scenic Area, and the Water Stone Forest Area.
There are 8 must-see scenic spots in the three major forest areas, which integrate mountains, water, forests and caves. There are dense stalagmites and lush vegetation. Walking into here is like entering a place of "Ten Thousand Acres of Bonsai" and "Eternal Painting".

1. A fairyland in the sky, a maze underground – the Star Basin
Located on the surface of the underground stream of Sancha River and on both sides of the river channel, the main scenic spots include: Bubujing, Yixianshui, Kongling Stone, Tianxing Zhaoying, Changbiao Gorge, Elephant Trunk Stone, Tianxing Tower, and Young Eagle Coming Out of the Mountain.

2. The most memorable place in Tianxing Bonsai area - Shushengbu
365 stones of various shapes meander in the water, representing the 365 days of a year. Everyone looks at the date on the stone as they walk, and the one they find with their birth date is their "birth step".

3. Tianxing Lake (Gao Laozhuang), where Zhu Bajie is said to have married.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area is the core scenic area of the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, covering an area of about 8.5 square kilometers. It includes the Huangguoshu Grand Waterfall, Bonsai Garden, Water Curtain Cave, Rhinoceros Pond, Horseshoe Pond and other attractions.
Below I will briefly introduce to you the three most representative landscapes in the second area.
1. The entrance to the Great Falls Scenic Area - Bonsai Garden
The bonsai garden is located in the low-lying area of western Guizhou. With its low altitude and year-round frost-free climate, it is ideal for the growth of subtropical plants. Succulents such as cacti, yellow jasmine, white magnolia, and other shrubs and trees can be found everywhere.

2. Huangguoshu Waterfall, China's largest waterfall
Witness with your own eyes the rushing river water rushing down from a cliff over 70 meters high into the Rhinoceros Pond, making a deafening roar.

3. Wonderful Scenic Spot – Water Curtain Cave
Without entering the Water Curtain Cave, you will not be able to truly appreciate the magnificence of Huangguoshu Waterfall. Passing through the Water Curtain Cave, you will enter a wonderful wonder and watch the colorful double-track dynamic rainbow over the Rhinoceros Pool from the windows of the cave.

Doupotang Waterfall is located 1 km upstream of Huangguoshu Waterfall. The top of the waterfall is 105 meters wide and 21 meters high. It is the waterfall with the widest top in the Huangguoshu Waterfall group!

This is a relatively relaxing attraction within the Huangguoshu Scenic Area. After visiting the Doupotang Waterfall, the parade in the Huangguoshu Scenic Area ends here.
Huangguoshu Waterfall has four scenic spots in each season, and the best season is from May to September!
In May, the flood season comes. The water volume in the upper reaches of the Baishui River is abundant, and the water volume of the Huangguoshu Waterfall increases sharply. It is the best time to view the waterfall, and the scenic area is extremely spectacular!
June to August every year is the peak flood season. The water flow in the Huangguoshu Scenic Area surges and the waterfall becomes powerful. This is the best time to view the Huangguoshu Waterfall.
In September, after several heavy rains, the Huangguoshu Waterfall cascaded down the rock wall, splashing thousands of silver flowers, spraying pearls and flying snow, as magnificent as a dancing jade dragon.

1. The mountain roads in the scenic area are steep and dangerous. It is recommended to wear rubber or cloth shoes when touring the scenic area. High-heeled leather shoes, plastic sandals, etc. should be avoided.
2. There are thunderstorms in summer, so it is not advisable to use an umbrella.
3. It is not advisable to visit during a thunderstorm, and you should definitely not take shelter under trees. The scenic area, especially the Tianxing Bridge area, has many stone steps, and there are many dangerous sections. When visiting, you should lean forward and walk slowly when going down the steps.

Since 2004, the scenic area has held the Guizhou Huangguoshu Waterfall Festival every year, but the specific time of the waterfall festival is not fixed and it is generally held between June and October.

June 6th is a traditional festival of the Buyi people, also known as the "Little New Year." During the festival, every village slaughters chickens and pigs for sacrificial ceremonies. Men, women, and children, young and old, dress in traditional costumes and engage in recreational activities.

Buckwheat jelly is a favorite snack of Anshun residents. It's made by grinding buckwheat into a paste, then tossing it with fermented bean curd, chili oil, fried soybeans, and crispy peanuts before serving. It's spicy and rich, quenching the thirst and relieving summer heat, while also refreshing and cooling, with a delicate buckwheat aroma.

The main ingredients are pig intestines, fresh pig blood and rolled egg noodles, suitable for both young and old.
