Deep in the Aral grassland of Haixi Prefecture, there is a geothermal fountain that has been gushing for thousands of years.

The lake's waters flow from east to west, changing from freshwater to brackish water and finally to saltwater. Pangong Lake is about 150 kilometers long from east to west and only 5 meters wide at its narrowest point. It looks quite distinctive when viewed on the map, like a "long-necked swan".

The Puruogangri Glacier is the world's third largest glacier, after Antarctica and the Arctic. With an average elevation of 6,600 meters, it lies within the core area of the Qiangtang Nature Reserve.
