What is both a bird and a flower?

But in the world, Japan is the most famous azalea viewing spot. In the 1,300-year-old Shiofune Kannon Temple in Ome City, Tokyo, more than 20,000 spherical azaleas bloom in succession every year.
There is also the 1900-year-old Nezu Shrine in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. Every April, more than 3,000 azaleas bloom together, and the torii gates and the azaleas are really beautiful!
In addition, Mount Katsuragi in Nara is covered with azaleas. The most special thing is that all of them are naturally grown and not artificially planted. When you reach the top of the mountain, you can overlook the vast Kinki Plain.
The strength of Japan's tourism industry is its perfect fusion of culture and scenery, while the rhododendrons found all over China are relatively unknown. Today, I would like to recommend a rhododendron destination that is definitely not inferior to Japan's, and that is the Baili Rhododendron in Bijie, Guizhou.
Guizhou's unique acidic soil and altitude are very suitable for the survival of rhododendrons. Bijie's Baili Rhododendron Scenic Area has a pristine rhododendron forest belt that stretches over 50 kilometers and is 1 to 5 kilometers wide, totaling 125.8 square kilometers, which is the largest in the world.
Baili Rhododendron accounts for all of the world's five subgenera of rhododendron species, with a total of more than 60 species. Among them, the "Millennium Flower King" is more than 1,000 years old and has a trunk thickness of 242 cm. When it blooms, it blooms with thousands of flowers and the tree alone welcomes the spring. Therefore, it has the reputation of "Earth's Ribbon, Rhododendron Kingdom".
This place is known as God's private back garden. Rhododendrons begin to bloom in March, filling the mountains like snowballs. There are colorful azaleas in red, light red, pink, purple, lavender, yellow, snow-white, creamy white...
The Baili Rhododendron Scenic Area is mainly composed of Pudi, Jinpo and Yishan Flower Valley. The entire Baili Rhododendron area is very vast. According to the 2021 flowering period forecast provided by the Bijie Meteorological Bureau, the flowering period of rhododendrons this year is 5 to 7 days earlier than last year. We expect the flowering period to end in early April (the specific flowering time varies with weather changes).

The scenic area is full of rolling hills and endless flower mountains. The Colorful Road is a scenic spot with a relatively concentrated and complete variety of rhododendrons. During the peak flowering period, the fallen petals on both sides of the road are very beautiful.

Due to its lower altitude, the Jinpo Scenic Area blooms slightly earlier than the Pudi Scenic Area. The flowers in the Jinpo Scenic Area are particularly beautiful. Some mountains are bright red, as bright as the morning glow, and some mountains are snow-white, covered in silver, gorgeous and dazzling. Whenever the sunset shines, it looks like a fiery red, and it is also called "Jinpo Ridge".
Baili Rhododendron Scenic Area is home to many ethnic groups including Yi, Buyi, Gelao, etc. During the blooming season, young people from nearby areas go to the flowers to sing songs. There are crape myrtles, dahlias, moss pinks, roses, glass suspension bridges, plant mazes, and glass plank roads. There are flowers every month and in bloom all year round.
Ma Yinglin is the place with the highest concentration of Ma Ying Rhododendron in the scenic area. The trees are tall and have dense corollas, with as many as three hundred flowers. Ma Ying Rhododendron is also called "Ma Yinghua" and "Soma Flower". Legend has it that it is a sacred flower transformed from the blood of the Soma girl.
This is Bijie Baili Rhododendron, a famous rhododendron resort that is in no way inferior to Japan. It is really worth a visit during the flowering season!
In addition to the Baili Rhododendron, the alpine dwarf rhododendron of the Wumeng grassland is also not to be missed!
The Wumeng Grassland is the highest-altitude grassland in Guizhou and even in the southwest region. The 100,000-mu grassland is vast and green, with 40,000 mu of dwarf rhododendron forests scattered among it and blooming brilliantly.
On the morning of the Wumeng grassland after the spring chill, the rhododendrons swaying in the wind are like flowers, covering the rolling hills with colorful shawls and blooming freely on one hillside after another.
When the azaleas are in full bloom, come and see them with your loved ones. This flower with the most Chinese colors will add the most beautiful color to your journey.
