Inhabited since the Jin Dynasty, it earned its name from the dense wolfberry shrubs that cover the island. It is the easternmost inhabited island in China. For tourists heading to Shanghai: (Shenjiawan Ferry Terminal - Gouqi Island ferry departures are concentrated between 8:00 and 9:40)
For tourists heading to Hangzhou: (The only ferry departing from Zhujiajian Wugongshi Wharf to Gouqi Island is at 7:45)
Self-driving users: Plan your route in advance and see which pier is convenient. Tourists from ordinary cities generally need to get up early and drive (which is relatively tiring, and the pier parking fee is 50/day).
For group tour users: choose the Shenjiawan or Zhujiajian package according to your area, and go to the pier on time to take the boat.

①Purchase a bus ticket from Nanpu Bridge to Shenjiawan (round trip 88 yuan/person), then go to the Nanpu Bridge Bus Station to pick up your ticket and take the bus directly to Shenjiawan Pier;
② Stay in a hotel near Dishuihu Subway Station, then take the Yangshan Express to Shenjiawan Wharf in the morning;
③Tourists heading to Hangzhou can also consider staying in a hotel near Zhujiajian Wharf and taking the boat directly in the morning.
Towards Shenjiawan: Purchase tickets on Shengsi Passenger Transport (official account), with real-name purchase, and tickets will be released 5 days in advance. In case of wind and waves or rain and fog, tickets may be refunded or the decision on whether to sail may be made on the spot on the day.
Zhujiajian Directions: Those boarding the ferry at Zhujiajian Ferry Terminal must purchase tickets on the Smart Starfish app. Be sure to book your tickets in advance! Otherwise, you may not be able to access the island.
Helicopter route: Newly opened in 2021, Putuoshan Airport can fly to Goji Island (10:35/13:30), about 700 yuan (only takes a few dozen minutes, local tyrants may consider this method)

Arrange your travel time reasonably. Generally, the boats to Goji Island leave early in the morning. If tourists are far away from the pier, they will have to get up early to travel, or charter a car to the pier, or stay overnight near the pier. There is no other way.

Buying Tips: The morning market is the busiest and freshest, as most tourists can't get up early. Local vendors primarily sell seafood, so the early morning offers a wide variety of fresh seafood at reasonable prices. It's also a good time to bargain before the market closes. During the day, when there are fewer people, bargaining can be difficult, so it's best to get guidance and advice from locals. Buying your own seafood and having it processed on the main street will cost around 20-30 per dish.

1. Fresh seafood
It is suitable for short-distance transportation. Long-distance transportation will affect the freshness. It is recommended to bring it back directly in a foam box and an refrigerated box. If the return journey takes more than half a day or you have to take a plane, it is not recommended to bring fresh goods back. It is troublesome and not cost-effective.
