Every autumn brings a sense of romance to me, as the world begins to bloom, its colors slowly warming the season. And every autumn, I set out in search of the most beautiful autumn scenery. This November, I encountered the most beautiful ginkgo tree in the mountains of Jiande, at Daciyan. At the end of a mountain road, in a tranquil setting, the ginkgo tree, after a thousand years of waiting, celebrates the most brilliant time of the year. To discover this beautiful ginkgo tree, we traveled all the way from Shanghai.

Daciyan, known as the "Little Jiuhua of Western Zhejiang," boasts not only Jiangnan's premier Hanging Temple, but also breathtaking cliffs and a stunning natural standing Buddha. From anywhere, you can take the high-speed rail to Jiande Station and then take a taxi to the scenic area; or take a minibus to Xinye Village and get off at Daciyan. Of course, the most convenient way is still to drive.

Travel and Season Recommendations

The best time to enjoy the ginkgo trees is from mid-to-late November to early December, and the visit takes about 3 hours.

Millennium Ginkgo Tree

This is the place I most recommend in Daciyan. When you wear beautiful Hanfu, cross the mountain gate, and see the whole golden world, you will be moved. In a corner of this mountain, there is a ginkgo tree full of autumn. The stone table and stone chairs under the tree are full of poetic and picturesque scenery.

The ground is covered with ginkgo leaves, a golden color that colors the whole world. Here you can deeply savor the flavor of autumn.

Whether walking on ginkgo leaves or taking a nap on a stone bench, it is a beautiful painting, and people are also part of the painting, which is beautiful and desirable.

If you look at this corner of the ginkgo tree from a distance, it seems that the mountains are wrapping around the ginkgo tree, or the ginkgo tree is coloring the mountains.

Hanging Temple

On top of the cliff, you feel like you are flying in the clouds. It is like the situation on the cliff, where gods live, and it is an exciting and surprising building.

Many people walk in the red first Hanging Temple in Jiangnan and exclaim in fear, as there is a cliff thousands of feet under their feet. However, it is this sense of unknown that makes the unique architectural style of the Hanging Temple more eye-catching and attracts people to visit.

The temple on the cliff is half embedded in the rock and half suspended in the air. The temple, plank road, incense corridor and cableway are all "hanging" on this vertical cliff.

It happened to be foggy on the day we arrived. Although the experience was a little less exciting, it felt like we were in a fairyland in the fog, surrounded by clouds and mist, which gave us endless imagination.

Natural standing Buddha

Another major feature of Daciyan is that when you look at the main peak of Daciyan from the mountain path on this side, the entire mountain looks like a standing statue of Bodhisattva. The stones, caves, and plants on the mountain are combined to form this natural standing Buddha, which is very realistic and lifelike. At 147 meters high, it is also the largest natural standing Buddha in the country.

Although we were unable to see its true appearance due to heavy fog, we were still intoxicated by the autumn colors all over the mountains of Daci Rock. We hope that we will have the opportunity to see the true appearance of the magical standing Buddha again next time.

Cliff plank road

The Daci Rock is quite interesting, appearing to be a single, monolithic mass of rock. This is why there are numerous plank roads carved along the vertical face of the rock. These paths are scattered throughout the rock, making for a truly fascinating journey.

There are breathtaking views, like a path to the sky, where the stunning scenery will keep you lingering for a long time. There is also a beautiful and exciting glass plank road, which will test your courage and take you on a lap around Daci Rock.
