This two-day, one-night trip to Jinyun South Township felt full, yet very relaxing and comfortable. The general itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Ren'an Village in Shuhong Town, Jinyun Shuangmian Museum, Shangguankeng Ancient Village in Rongjiang Township, Yunqi Lake in Xinxikeng, and the Yanmen Scenic Area.
Day 2: West Mountain in Dayuan Town, Shikeng Grand Canyon, Shudong Conference Site in Shuangxikou Township, and Jinlingjiao Reservoir.
Anyone who has been to Zhejiang must have a very deep impression of the countryside here. Zhejiang has not only many beautiful villages, but they are also very beautiful, such as Ren'an Village in Shuhong Town, Jinyun County.
Ren'an Village, a thousand-year-old village nestled among mountains and rivers, is home to the confluence of Liupan, Zhen, and Zhang Creeks. Its unique geographical location has fostered an elegant and beautiful ecological environment, creating a picturesque scene reminiscent of a paradise. In 2019, it was selected as one of the first national forest villages, and in 2020, it was recognized as a beautiful leisure village in China. It has also become a popular online village in the surrounding area, attracting numerous tourists.
Entering Ren'an Village (Ren'an Scenic Area), you'll encounter a lifelike 3D stone zoo, a farming garden, a walking trail, and a water park. The 3D stone animals, including lions, tigers, peacocks, pandas, and horses, are hidden among the roadside trees, creating a beautiful landscape.
The observation tower and the agricultural culture park are very suitable for taking photos, especially on the day we went there, the weather was particularly good and the sky was particularly blue. Every shot was a beautiful blockbuster. It also made us sigh that the beautiful rural scenery nowadays is really beautiful. Continuing further, there's a water park and aquatic area. The emerald green waters resemble a large natural swimming pool. During the hot summer months, this area attracts many people, especially children, to play in the water.
Crossing the bridge, you arrive at the village. Ren'an Village has undergone significant development in recent years, boasting comprehensive tourism infrastructure and convenient accommodation and transportation. As a millennium-old village, many of the original stone houses remain, standing by the river. The mottled walls and old bluestone pavement reveal the traces of time.
Ren'an is a very famous bayberry village in Zhejiang and even in the whole country. It has the reputation of "the sweetest bayberry village in Zhejiang" and has won the certification of Zhejiang Agricultural Guinness. The Dongkui bayberry here won the gold medal for its good fruit shape and quality. In front of the He Hao Ancestral Hall in the village, you can see a huge bayberry, which has become one of the landmarks of Ren'an Village.
If you are interested in cultural buildings, you must go into the He Hao Ancestral Hall to take a look. On the front row of pillars of the ancestral hall stage is engraved a couplet left by the Chinese painting master Pan Tianshou: "Loyalty to the country and filial piety to parents are true careers; singing and dancing are great articles."
Jinyun, Zhejiang, is known for more than just sesame cakes; "shuangmian" (shuangmian) is also a local delicacy. Just hearing the name is enough to capture the interest of many. Jinyun boasts more than just shuangmian; there's even a shuangmian museum in Xingwang Village, Shuhong Town, Jinyun County. As a traditional Jinyun delicacy, shuangmian can be mixed, stir-fried, or used in soups. Along with sesame cakes and braised stream fish, they're collectively known as one of the "Three Great Jinyun Delicacies."
Jinyun Shuangmian has a very long history, with a history of more than 1,300 years. It is also called Tumian and Tushuangmian. After more than a thousand years of historical development, Shuangmian has become a part of the memory of Jinyun people. There is a saying in the local area that "when visiting relatives and friends during the New Year, first drink tea, eat candy, and then eat Shuangmian."
Jinyun Shuangmian Museum includes functional areas such as Shuangmian culture display area, Shuangmian processing and production experience area, training area and tasting area. Here you can experience the use of traditional agricultural tools and the entire process of Shuangmian production.
The building with white walls and black tiles is not only a museum, but also hides the Maixiang Hidden Villa Hotel. In the hotel restaurant, you can taste authentic Jinyun Shuangmian, which is served with vegetables, poached eggs, mushrooms, oil residue, asparagus, etc. The noodles are chewy and smooth, and very delicious!
After leaving the museum, you can see noodles drying in front of every household. The noodles, as thin as silk, are hung on wooden racks, and the sunlight shines on them, creating a spectacular sight. Generally speaking, if the weather is good, the noodles can be dried in just half a day.
Yanmen Scenic Area is one of the main attractions of the Jinyun Xiandu Scenic Area. When the legendary poet Li Bai visited Yanmen, he was so moved by the towering peaks and lush greenery that he composes the beautiful verse, "Jinyun's rivers and valleys are difficult to explore, but Shimen is the most spectacular." Hidden within this beautiful landscape lies an ancient village: Shangguankeng Ancient Village.
Nestled midway up a mountain, Shangguankeng Ancient Village feels like a paradise. Designated a key historical and cultural village for protection in Zhejiang Province and included in the fourth batch of traditional Chinese villages, it boasts over 200 years of history. If it weren't for the current popularity of beautiful villages and cultural heritage as tourist destinations, this place might have long been forgotten.
Shangguankeng Ancient Village nestles against the backdrop of mountains and water, its buildings arranged in a staggered pattern. A tall, lush ancient maple tree greets visitors at the village entrance, while a winding path leads up to the village. From outside the village, terraced fields, old houses, and mountain forests blend beautifully against the blue sky and white clouds, creating a vibrant and colorful landscape painting. Such beauty is truly rare.
The old buildings here are remarkably well-preserved, and the ancient roads, ancestral halls, dwellings, and wells are all well-preserved, and residents still live here. Finally, we met a monk who said that the scenery in front of their temple was very spectacular and very close to where I wanted to go, right in front of the huge rock in front of "Qizhen Temple". The scenery was really spectacular. Although the sunset was obscured by a dark cloud, the scenery was still beautiful.
In the deep mountains and bamboo forests of Dayuan Town, Jinyun County, there is a house with white walls and black tiles. It is one of the most famous red attractions in Jinyun County and even Lishui. The Shikeng Grand Canyon stretches from Wufeng Village in Dayuan Town to Guishuhou Village in Dayang Town, with a total length of more than 20 kilometers. Along the way, there are gurgling streams and shady trees, and there are numerous waterfalls of all sizes. Dayuan steamed buns use the steamed bun processing method and unique fermentation technology passed down from ancestors, making Nanxiang steamed buns fragrant, soft to the touch, and taste unique. The red plum blossom seal also symbolizes a prosperous year.
Before that, especially on the 25th day of the 12th lunar month, families gather to prepare the staple food for the Lunar New Year, Dayuan steamed buns. The festive atmosphere is embodied in the steam rising from the steamer. As someone born in the north, I love wheaten food, especially these steamed buns made with fermented yeast, which evoke the flavors of childhood. If you're visiting Dayuan Town in Jinyun, I highly recommend dining here; every dish is filled with nostalgia and tastes delicious.
I used to think Jinyun was primarily known for its mountains and rivers, but I wasn't expecting so many ancient villages here, not to mention the many revolutionary tourism attractions. In Shuangxikou Village, Shuangxikou Township, I discovered a tree over a thousand years old, and within it, a memorable historical event unfolded.
On the west side of the Shuangxikou Village Cultural Hall, the lush ancient Castanopsis scleractinia trees are particularly eye-catching. The most breathtaking of them is the thousand-year-old Castanopsis scleractinia, whose tree hole is large enough to accommodate five or six people.
This is the site of the 1939 Tree Hole Meeting of the Jinyun County Special Branch of the Chinese Communist Party. It was this enormous tree hole that contributed to the establishment of the Jinyun Party organization. Today, the Ancient Tree Park has become a popular destination for villagers and visitors to commemorate the martyrs and relax and have fun. The scene before us is like stepping back into those arduous war years, and it also serves as a constant reminder to be grateful to the revolutionary martyrs, remember our mission, stay true to our original aspiration, and continue to move forward.
After visiting the former site of the Shudong Conference, we were originally planning to drive to the Jinlingjiao Reservoir, which is not too far away. However, we encountered road construction on the way and the car could not pass through. We had no choice but to raise the drone. Since we couldn’t watch it up close, we might as well take a look from a distance. Next time I come, I will definitely have a deeper look.
