Zoige, pronounced "Ruoga" in Tibetan, means "a place favored by yaks." It is not only a place name, but also a geographical concept.

Compared with the entire Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, this is a basin among the mountains, with a vast and flat terrain.
To the northwest of Ruoergai, the majestic Amnye Machen Mountains stand tall and straight, and even the surging Yellow River cannot cross it. It has to detour and form a huge bend on the Ruoergai grassland.
In terms of administrative divisions, the entire Greater Ruoergai region covers Ruoergai, Hongyuan, Aba, Songpan in Sichuan Province, Maqu and Luqu in Gansu Province, and Jiuzhi in Qinghai Province.
The total area exceeds 50,000 square kilometers, equivalent to half of Jiangsu Province, and is the second largest grassland in China after Hulunbuir Grassland in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
At the same time, its average altitude of 3,500 meters also makes it the largest high-altitude grassland in the world, like a magnificent emerald inlaid on the northwestern border of Sichuan.

China is one of the countries with the richest grassland resources, which can generally be divided into five major regions: the Northeast grassland area, the Mongolian, Ningxia and Gansu grassland area, the Xinjiang grassland area, the Qinghai-Tibet grassland area and the southern grass mountain and grass slope area.

On the Ruoergai grassland, a touching story happened between a man and a wolf.

In April 2010, female painter Li Weiyi rescued a dying wolf cub, Green, while sketching on the Ruoergai grasslands. She brought Green back to Chengdu and raised him for over two months, but the city undoubtedly erased the wolf's instincts.
Unable to bear seeing Green confused and depressed, Li Weiyi decided to take it back to its real home.
However, the little wolf, accustomed to the human world, finds it difficult to adapt to the wild.
So, Li Weiyi lived with Green on the Ruoergai grassland for more than 7 months. Starting with the simplest hunting, she taught Green the rules of survival step by step, and finally said goodbye to it in tears.
This story was later compiled into the documentary film "Return to the Wolf Pack".
