The scorching heat of the south has subsided, while the sun in the north is scorching.
When it comes to summer travel destinations ,
I'm sure many tourists first think of
cool, summer-escaping, and ethereal destinations—
think beaches, forests, grasslands, and snowy plateaus.
But if I told you that the desert is actually quite nice in the summer
, would you still find it dry and hot to the touch? And
would you be crazy to go to such a place without shelter in the middle of the summer? 👇🏻

Doesn't look too cool.
Apart from imitating a desert lizard, there seems to be nothing else to do in making hot dick videos😮

But our product manager Xiangbei
kept telling Xiaoxia
to put aside his stereotypes
📢Tengger in the summer is really fun!
After seeing Xiangbei's experience, Xiaoxia chose to believe him🙋🏻♂️
After hearing about the northbound recommendations, you
might still be a bit skeptical.
What's the temperature like in Tengger?
What are the weather conditions like?
Will there be strong sandstorms?
Let me first give you a rundown of the natural conditions here
. Let's start our geography lesson!
The Tengger Desert is located in the southwest of Alxa Left Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on the border with central Gansu Province. It stretches from the Great Wall of Vietnam in the south to the Helan Mountains in the east and the Yabrai Mountains in the west. It has a total area of about 43,000 square kilometers and is the fourth largest desert in China.

In Mongolian, "Tengger" means "sky." This boundless desert, nestled amidst the vast earth, is as vast and lofty as the sky itself. Local herders also say, "Climbing to the top of Tengger, you're three feet and three meters above the sky."

@ Meng Qiu
The endless yellow sand is only one side of the story. When you actually step into the desert, you'll find it vibrant and rich. Camels, sand lizards, gerbils, Haloxylon ammodendron, Cistanche deserticola...they make the desolate landscape lively and interesting.

As we all know, the temperature difference between morning and evening in the desert is very large - the daytime temperature in the Tengger Desert in summer is usually 26-35℃ (looking at the numbers, it seems to be slightly lower than the cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai hh). As long as you do a good job of sun protection and wear breathable and cool clothes, you will still feel very comfortable!
Fully armed from head to toe
In extreme cases, the surface temperature can reach as high as 80°C🔥, but at night it plummets to around 15-21°C! Stepping out of the tent and gazing at the starry sky in the comfortable temperature is a romantic and blissful experience~

In summer, there is almost no wind and sand in the Tengger Desert, and the probability of severe weather such as sandstorms is also extremely low, so we can carry out outdoor activities more safely and comfortably.

After seeing all the Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang travel on social media, if you want to experience something different and find inner peace amidst the vast expanse of the desert, I highly recommend following Xiaoxia to explore the summer desert. The scenery here is incredible, and we've prepared tons of experiences!
The Tengger Desert is China's most populous desert , boasting
over 400 lake basins. 251 of these basins are teeming with water,
creating a unique oasis.
In summer, the lakes are surrounded by lush vegetation
and clear water, creating a breathtaking contrast with the golden sand dunes
.

Known as the "hometown of stars,"
Tengger
experiences little rainfall in the summer, offering a wide field of view and making
it an ideal spot for stargazing.

Here, without the light pollution of the city,
it feels as if you can reach out and touch the mysteries of the universe.
Lying on the soft sand, looking up at the starry sky,
you feel so small.

Summer brings long days and short nights
, offering more opportunities to enjoy the golden glow of sunrise
and the vibrant colors of sunset. The beauty described in the poem
"A lone smoke rises straight across the desert, the setting sun is round over the long river"
is truly right before your eyes.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast
, you must try desert hiking!
Unlike climbing mountains and crossing ridges
, walking along the continuous sand dunes,
the sand under your feet is fine and soft.
Every step is full of hardships
, but also brings endless surprises.

I feel like I'm going to fall in.
The Tengger Five Lakes Crossing
is our first professional desert hiking route.
After repeated revisions and polishing
, it has a 99.9% positive rating and a strong reputation.
Whether it is safety or comfort,
it will not disappoint tourists. ~

Here are some pre-trip and travel tips for the Tengger Five Lakes Trek. I hope they'll be helpful for those planning a trip soon. Tourists signing up for other routes can also use this as a reference to adjust your gear accordingly. 🙋🏻♂️

It's recommended to bring three-season clothing, focusing on sun protection during the day and warmth in the morning and evening.
✅ Clothing: 1 set of softshell underwear and 1 set of pants, 2 sets of long-sleeved quick-drying underwear, a jacket, 1-2 sets of quick-drying underwear, and 1 set of spare underwear;
✅ Bottoms: Leggings or yoga pants are not recommended; regular quick-drying pants or softshell pants will suffice;
✅ Shoes: 1 pair of hiking boots (mid-high top is recommended, mesh is not recommended (sand easily enters); 1 pair of camp shoes (crocs or slippers are recommended, comfort is the priority);
✅ End-of-life gear: 1 pair of sand guards (China-TravelNote provides free sand guards), 2-3 pairs of socks (professional hiking socks, wool socks preferred), 1 sun hat (wide brim recommended), thin gloves, sun sleeves, and sunglasses (for sun and sand protection).
1 sleeping bag, comfortable temperature 10℃ in July and August (partners who rent sleeping bags will receive a free fleece sleeping bag)
✅Small backpack: 20-30 liters is enough for carrying drinking water, personal belongings and valuables for a single day
✅Large backpack: Place extra clothes and other items not needed for the day's hike, which will be transported to the camp by a shuttle bus. Suitcases are not recommended as they are easily damaged by sand
Sunscreen SPF50+, sunscreen lipstick SPF50+, toothbrush and toothpaste, mouthwash, wet wipes, etc.
1 headlamp, 1 pair of trekking poles (you can bring your own or rent them for free), sand bag (provided free of charge by default)
Unlike other deserts, Mingsha Mountain is packed with people during the summer, like "Attack the Huns." But in Tengger, this world truly belongs to us.
Seeing an oasis amidst the desolation, we are moved by the tenacity of life; leaving fleeting footprints with our feet, yet we keep moving. Those who pursue the wilderness will surely enjoy a life of freedom.
