The Tengger Desert is located in the southwest of Alxa Left Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on the border with central Gansu Province. It stretches from the Great Wall of Vietnam in the south to the Helan Mountains in the east and the Yabrai Mountains in the west. It has a total area of about 43,000 square kilometers and is the fourth largest desert in China.
In Mongolian, "Tengger" means "sky." This boundless desert, nestled amidst the vast earth, is as vast and lofty as the sky itself. Local herders also say, "Climbing to the top of Tengger, you're three feet and three meters above the sky."

The endless yellow sand is only one side of the story. When you actually step into the desert, you'll find it vibrant and rich. Camels, sand lizards, gerbils, Haloxylon ammodendron, Cistanche deserticola...they make the desolate landscape lively and interesting.

As we all know, the temperature difference between morning and evening in the desert is very large - the daytime temperature in the Tengger Desert in summer is usually 26-35℃ (looking at the numbers, it seems to be slightly lower than the cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai hh). As long as you do a good job of sun protection and wear breathable and cool clothes, you will still feel very comfortable!

In extreme cases, the surface temperature can reach as high as 80°C🔥, but at night it plummets to around 15-21°C! Stepping out of the tent and gazing at the starry sky in the comfortable temperature is a romantic and blissful experience~
In summer, there is almost no wind and sand in the Tengger Desert, and the probability of severe weather such as sandstorms is also extremely low, so we can carry out outdoor activities more safely and comfortably.

It's recommended to bring three-season clothing, focusing on sun protection during the day and warmth in the morning and evening.
✅ Clothing: 1 set of softshell underwear and 1 set of pants, 2 sets of long-sleeved quick-drying underwear, a jacket, 1-2 sets of quick-drying underwear, and 1 set of spare underwear;
✅ Bottoms: Leggings or yoga pants are not recommended; regular quick-drying pants or softshell pants will suffice;
✅ Shoes: 1 pair of hiking boots (mid-high top is recommended, mesh is not recommended (sand easily enters); 1 pair of camp shoes (crocs or slippers are recommended, comfort is the priority);
✅ End-of-life gear: 1 pair of sand guards (China-TravelNote provides free sand guards), 2-3 pairs of socks (professional hiking socks, wool socks preferred), 1 sun hat (wide brim recommended), thin gloves, sun sleeves, and sunglasses (for sun and sand protection).
