About Lombok

Lombok is a pristine and natural island, both gentle and wild. It boasts clear turquoise waters, the majestic active Mount Rinjani, breathtaking Rainbow Falls, and the unique traditional customs and culture of the Sasak people. The Lombok Strait, over 1,100 meters deep and considered the edge of the Asian continental shelf, offers strikingly different flora and fauna on either side. The crystal-clear turquoise waters, azure skies, and white sand beaches all exude a breathtaking sense of nature's generosity. Arrive early and explore at your leisure. Perhaps one day, Lombok will be as touristy as Bali, and those who have visited will be grateful for having left their mark on Lombok during its youth.

丨Introduction to Senggigi Beach

Senggigi Beach is the first tourist attraction developed in Lombok. The sea is very calm, the beach is quiet and warm, and there are beautiful sunsets here. Most of the hotels in Lombok are gathered here. There is also a bar street and spa. It is a good choice to relax before the trip and have a couple of drinks after the trip.

Hiking distance: 15 km

Hiking time: 8-10 hours

Cumulative elevation: +1186m/-1700m

丨Itinerary

We set out from the camp at around 02:00 in the morning. We prepared snacks for everyone to use as energy for the summit.

Everyone should prepare a headlamp or flashlight and goggles to prevent sand from getting into their eyes.

After four hours of climbing, amidst volcanic ash and the chance to spot the sacred white alpine edelweiss, we reached the summit at 3,726 meters. The sunrise was visible to the left, while the majestic triangle of Rinjani was reflected on the right. A small crater, billowing smoke, rose from the lake. The peaks of Bali's Mt. Tambora and Mt. Agung were also clearly visible. This was the highlight of our trip! In near-freezing temperatures at the equator, we waited together in the crater for the sunrise over the sea!

PS: The speed of climbing to the top varies from person to person. If you can't reach the top in time, you can enjoy the sunrise on the ridge line.

·morning

After sunrise, we descended to the campsite for breakfast and continued our descent to Segara Anak Lake. We camped by the lake today. There's a flooded section just before reaching the campsite. Normally, the water level is around 10cm, but if it rains, it can rise to knee-high or even higher, so it's recommended to bring spare clothing so you can change into it upon arrival. This is the Southern Hemisphere's most beautiful volcanic lake. You'll see the crescent-shaped crater and the green volcanic lake. Within the lake stands the small volcano Baru, formed by a secondary eruption. From a distance, wisps of blue smoke can be seen. The lake's color, influenced by the volcanic rock and eruption materials, creates a dreamy reflection in the sun.
