10:00

After arriving at the hiking point, we got off the bus and lined up, then walked through the village and arrived at the Xiamu Mountain Reservoir. All the way up along the reservoir was a sea of bamboo forest. We took photos as we walked, following the ancient path left by our predecessors.

We reached the summit, where a pavilion stood. In front of the pavilion lay a large valley, embracing the Xiamu Mountain Reservoir, fed by mountain spring water. To the west of the Wanshou Pavilion stood the thirteen-story Jinling Thousand Buddha Pagoda. Down the slope to the north lay Yunlin Zen Temple, and to the east, Gucheng was visible.

12:00

We stopped here at noon and had lunch.

After a short rest after the meal, we continued our journey.

Descending along the Shangxiang Ancient Trail, the mountains followed the winding road, the trees were lush, and only the birds singing in the forest could be heard. Soon we came to the winding mountain road, and endless tea fields appeared in front of us. After about 20 minutes along the winding mountain road, we turned into the interesting bamboo forest hiking section. Time always flies when walking in the bamboo forest path.

Take a bus to Nanxun Ancient Town at the right time

Nanxun Ancient Town is located in the heart of the beautiful and fertile Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou Plain. It is an ancient town with a profound cultural heritage and is well-preserved among the "Six Ancient Towns of Jiangnan". It is known as the "cover of the Six Ancient Towns of Jiangnan". It is the only national 5A-level scenic spot in Huzhou City and is also an early Jiangnan ancient town in China to be included in the World Cultural Heritage List.

Some people say that "all ancient towns in the world are the same, but Nanxun is very different." As for what is different, let's find out!

We arrived at the departure point in Suzhou around 20:00. Everyone was reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes!

Driving time: about 2.5 hours

Hiking: The entire loop hike is about 9km, mainly on stone roads, with some mechanized farming roads. It goes up first and then down, and the intensity is moderate.

Xiamu Mountain, a remnant of Tianmu Mountain, lies approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Huzhou, divided between Wuxing District and Changxing County. The Ming Chongzhen Chronicle states: "Climbing the steep and rugged path, one can see Taihu Lake, with the mountains below. The mountain is often covered in clouds and mist, hence the name." Xiamu Mountain, 560 meters above sea level, boasts lush forests and bamboo groves, clear streams, fresh air, and pleasant scenery. At its peak lies the Xiamu Spring, known as the "Heavenly Lake." Beneath the mountain lie the Xiamu Mountain Reservoir, Gufeng Reservoir, Shichuanwu Reservoir, and Dingniangling Reservoir. Since ancient times, the mountain has been known as "Mogan Mountain Scenery, Xiamu Mountains and Waters."
