Tianmu Mountain Remnants, Climbing to the Top of Xiamu Mountain, and the Joyful Encounter of Mountains and Waters

Day 1 Shanghai → Xiamu Mountain → Shanghai

All day

Please gather at 7:00 am at the bottom floor of Mingshen Center Building, No. 3131 Kaixuan Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, and sign in.

We set off at 7:30 sharp. On the way, the staff will lead everyone to introduce themselves, get to know each other, and play some small games. There will be laughter and joy all the way, and we will arrive at our destination unknowingly.

We arrived at the hiking point around 10:00. After getting off the bus and forming a team, we walked through the village and arrived at the Xiamu Mountain Reservoir. All the way up along the reservoir was a sea of bamboo forest.

Around 12:00 PM, we reached the summit, where a pavilion stood. In front of the pavilion lay a large valley, embracing the Xiamushan Reservoir, fed by mountain spring water. To the west of the Wanshou Pavilion stood the thirteen-story Jinling Thousand Buddha Pagoda. Down the slope to the north lay Yunlin Zen Temple, and to the east, Gucheng was visible.
We stopped here for lunch.

After a short rest, we continued our journey. We descended the Shangxiang Ancient Trail, where the road curved through the mountains, lush trees, and the chirping of birds. Soon, we reached the winding mountain road, where endless tea fields appeared before us. After about 20 minutes of walking along the winding road, we entered the bamboo forest section, which is my favorite part of the hike. Time flies when you walk through the bamboo forest.

At about 16:00, we arrived at the exit and the bus was waiting for us at the village entrance. We got on the bus and returned to Shanghai.

We arrived at the departure point in Shanghai around 18:30. We were reluctant to leave and said goodbye with tears in our eyes! Don’t forget to write a travelogue when you get home; it will earn you points.

Driving time: about 3 hours

Note: Snow is forecast for Jiangsu and Zhejiang this week. You might even be able to see the snowy scenery of Xiamu Mountain.

Xiamu Mountain, a remnant of Tianmu Mountain, lies approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Huzhou, divided between Wuxing District and Changxing County. The Ming Chongzhen Chronicle states: "Climbing the steep and rugged path, one can see Taihu Lake, with the mountains below. The mountain is often covered in clouds and mist, hence the name." Xiamu Mountain, 560 meters above sea level, boasts lush forests and bamboo groves, clear streams, fresh air, and pleasant scenery. At its peak lies the Xiamu Spring, known as the "Heavenly Lake." At its base lie the Xiamu Mountain Reservoir, Gufeng Reservoir, Shichuanwu Reservoir, and Dingniangling Reservoir. Since ancient times, the mountain has been known as "Mogan Mountain Scenery, Xiamu Mountains and Waters."
