Day 1 Shanghai → Shaoxing

All day

We met promptly at the designated China-TravelNote location between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM to sign in. We boarded the bus and departed promptly at 4:30 PM. Along the way, guided by the staff, we introduced ourselves to each other, interacted with each other, and enjoyed a lively conversation. Before we knew it, we were nearing our destination.
Around 6:00 PM, we crossed the Jiashao Bridge over Hangzhou Bay, the world's longest and widest multi-tower cable-stayed bridge. We stopped at a service area for dinner.
At 7:30 PM, we arrived at the entrance to the Shangqing Ancient Trail. Everyone disembarked and stretched their bodies. The team leader led a warm-up exercise—it was a must! Afterward, we were off! After passing through small mountain villages for about an hour, we arrived at the reservoir. Nearby, a monument read: "Lanruo Temple Reservoir." The date was 1956. During the Red Revolution, the locals demolished temples and built dams during the "Four Olds" campaign. I wonder where Nie Xiaoqian lives now? Haha. We took a group photo and continued on our way.
The quiet ancient path bears witness to countless years of change. A gentle breeze through the bamboo forest echoes the voices of literati and poets for millennia. Tao Hongjing, a Taoist philosopher and medical expert during the Southern Dynasties of Qi and Liang, once lived in seclusion here. The early Yuan Dynasty poet Lin Jingxi commemorated this ridge with the following verse: "Laughing, I point to the green vines and ask the hermit, 'A thousand rocks share the autumn colors here.' At that time, I sat at a banquet, but no one recognized me, only the gentle breeze and the white clouds." During the Song Dynasty, Lu You's grandfather, Lu Dian, the Left Chancellor, also lived in seclusion here, building a hut and writing books, a fact Lu You visited many times. As we walk through the ancient bamboo path, perhaps the stone slab beneath your feet is where Tao Hongjing rested his feet, or where Lu You composed a poem.
At 11:00 PM, we arrived at the exit of the ancient path, where the bus was already waiting. We boarded the bus and departed for our stay at the farmhouse.
Check-in will be at 11:30 PM. Enjoy a late-night snack and discuss life. It's getting late, so tourists should get some rest.

Please bring your own headlamp or flashlight

Driving time: about 3 hours

Note: The entire route is approximately 10km long, mainly on bluestone slabs, and the intensity is moderate.

Day 2 Shaoxing → Shanghai

All day

I slept until I woke up naturally in the morning, had breakfast at 9:00, and started rafting in the Kuaiji Mountain Gorge Cave at 9:30.

Don your life jacket and protective gear for a thrilling canyon rafting adventure. Experience tunneling, rapids rafting, and water rides—you'll have a blast! Don't forget the water fights!

During the whole rafting process, tourists seem to have experienced a complete dream-seeking journey in life, which includes the beautiful expectations when starting the dream, the hard work when chasing the dream, the joy when realizing the dream, and the leisurely contentment after building the dream.

11:30 AM: Wash up in the changing room with hot water and change out of wet clothes. Lunch is at your own convenience in the scenic area.

Around 13:30, we boarded the bus back to Shanghai and arrived back at our departure point in Shanghai around 17:00. We were reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in our eyes!!!

Driving time: about 3 hours

The Shangqing Ancient Trail—said to be a classic in Shaoxing's hiking community—seems to have been named after the place names at its beginning and end: Shangzao and Qingtan. In ancient times, the Shangqing Ancient Trail was the only official road from Shengzhou to Shaoxing, equivalent to a modern-day national highway. With the opening of the Pingwang Line, it's now rarely used, and some locals call it the Kuaiji Ancient Trail. The route from the Shangzao Ancient Wharf to Shaoxing along the Ruoye River was a waterway, long abandoned and no trace remains. The mountain route from the Shangzao Ancient Wharf in Wangtan Town to Shengzhou remains largely untouched, paved with bluestone slabs.

The Kuaiji Mountain Gorge Rafting Scenic Area is located in Pingshui Town, a Nationally Beautiful Town and Provincial-Level Ecological Town, 10 kilometers from the ancient city of Shaoxing. The area boasts convenient transportation, bordering Shangyu, Zhuji, and Shengzhou, and directly adjacent to the Kuaiji Mountain Tourist Scenic Area. The Shaoxing-Zhuji Expressway, the Shaoxing-Gansu Provincial Highway, and the planned Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou Expressway traverse the area, making it an integral part of the Yangtze River Delta's two-hour economic circle. Pingshui boasts a rich cultural heritage, with its poetic trails along the Ruoye River, sword forging on Rizhu Ridge, Baozhu collecting dust in Pingyang Temple, and books collected in a hut on Taoyan Ridge Road. The scenic area boasts a beautiful ecology, charming scenery, and fresh air, creating a pristine "natural oxygen bar."

Same rafting experience, different thrills. Mountains, canyons, tunnels, lakes... Kuaiji Gorge Cave Rafting will give you the most mysterious, creative, exciting, safe, and family-friendly rafting experience, leaving you wanting more!
