Day 1 Nanjing → Qiyun Mountain

07:15

From 7:15 to 7:30, please gather and sign in at Exit 1 of Andemen Station on Nanjing Metro Line 1, where you will see the yellow China-TravelNote flag.

07:30

Set off on time and head south to Qiyun Mountain.

12:00

Arriving in Qiyun Town, it's filled with the feeling of small bridges, flowing water, and small houses, and "Taoism" culture has become one of the core elements here. In this small town, the Hui style and modern architecture are integrated, allowing people to escape the city and let go of the worldly troubles and experience a life of returning to the countryside. Here, we can dine freely. (Or dine in the service area, depending on the road conditions.)

13:00

Begin your ascent of Qiyun Mountain, arriving at its foot. Depart as a group, crossing Dengfeng Bridge, crossing the Hengjiang River, and ascending along the Jiuli Thirteen Pavilions. Passing Wangxian Pavilion, Mengzhen Bridge, and passing through Yitian Gate, Santian Gate, and Xuantian Taisu Palace, after approximately two hours, you'll arrive at Yuehua Street, the heart of Qiyun Mountain. Check into your inn and, afterward, explore the surrounding area, not to be missed, including the peak itself.

The numerous cliff carvings and Taoist temples make one sigh that Qiyun Mountain is truly an overlooked famous mountain. In the evening, we were on the observation deck of the mountain inn, gazing out at the Xin'an River flowing around the mountain.

6:00 PM

A special group meal is arranged for dinner, and everyone gathers together to enjoy the mountain delicacies!

In the night, you can play various games under the stars and fall asleep at the right time.

Driving time: 4.5 hours

Day 2 → Qiyun Mountain → Descend → Bishan → Nanping

07:30

The first ray of dawn must not be missed. Friends who get up early can make an appointment to watch the sunrise and sea of clouds together (it’s time to try your luck)

After breakfast, return to the inn and return to the foot of the mountain (you can take the cable car or walk down the mountain)

12:00

Arriving at Bishan Village, Bishan is a unique place. Far from the city center and not a popular tourist destination, yet this remote, ancient village boasts quaint, artistic bookstores, period-themed cultural and creative shops, modern cafes, bourgeois-inspired bars, and artistically decorated guesthouses. These are products of modern urban civilization, yet surprisingly present in this secluded countryside.

4:00 PM

Arriving at Nanping Ancient Village, the villagers have prepared special Huizhou refreshments for everyone. After enjoying the refreshments, there are some special experiences to participate in. Follow the tour guide to learn about the ancient village in detail!

After dinner, you can have a good rest or arrange some games and have a happy night!

Driving time: about 2 hours

Day 3 Zuyuan → Mulikou → Nanjing

07:30

After the tour, we drove to Zuyuan Ancient Village (we need to change to a small car at the foot of the mountain to go to the village on the mountain). Zuyuan Village was built in the Song Dynasty. It has flowing springs and waterfalls, white walls and black tiles, and ancient Hui style. The village has historical and cultural landscapes such as water mouths, ancient bridges, ancient houses, ancient trees, and Sixianling. It is especially famous for its thousand-year-old yew and has more than 100 acres of terraced fields.

09:00

After resting, we set off for Muli Village, an ancient road with a total length of 5 km, connecting two ancient villages. It is called the Dream Ancient Road. We took photos while walking along the way. The scenery was pleasant and it was easy and not tiring. It took about 1.5-2 hours.

11:30

Arriving at the cloud-top village of Muliqu, we went to the viewing platform opposite the village, which offers a unique perspective and a panoramic view of this remarkable village. Before lunch, we can stroll around this simple village. The front mountain of Muliqu is covered with tea trees, and the back mountain is planted with bamboos. It is suspended in the air on three sides, and it is as beautiful as a fairyland, as if you are walking in the clouds.

12:00

Come to the village home for lunch. Most of the ingredients are grown by the villagers themselves. They are very fresh. The delicious Anhui cuisine will definitely make you eat 2 more bowls of rice (reservation is required in advance)

1:30 PM

After the meal, we took a rest and said goodbye to Mulikeng. We walked through the steps out of the village to the parking lot, hired a car to the foot of the mountain, and got on the car to return.

6:00 PM

When we arrived at the departure point in Nanjing, everyone was reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes!

Driving time: about 4.5 hours

Qiyun Mountain, formerly known as "Bai Yue," is one of China's four famous Taoist mountains. Historically, it's also known as "Huangshan and Bai Yue are the best in Jiangnan." Along with Huangshan, Jiuhua Mountain, and Tianzhu Mountain, it's considered one of the four famous mountains in southern Anhui. It's often said, "Huangshan and Bai Yue face each other, and the green waters and red cliffs are the best in Jiangnan." Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty praised it as "an unparalleled scenic spot under heaven, the most famous mountain in Jiangnan." China-TravelNote highly praises Qiyun Mountain!

Muli Village: This village boasts a unique topography, situated on a mountain ridge, with three sides suspended in the air. It is steeped in the Hui culture. Muli Village is shaped like a camel, and its beauty is easily visible from the opposite mountain, known locally as "Front Mountain." Locals cultivate numerous tea trees on Front Mountain, which enjoyed robust production in previous years. However, in recent years, the village's young people have chosen to work elsewhere, leaving only the elderly to care for the village, leaving much of the tea crop uncultivated. Bamboo is also abundantly planted on Front Mountain, and the locals make a living selling it. From Front Mountain, one can overlook the entire village, a truly breathtaking sight, especially after rain, when a sea of clouds can be seen. The village feels like a fairyland.

Nanping Village, located in the southwest of Yi County, Anhui Province, is a sprawling ancient village boasting a thousand years of history. It's also known as the "Ham Village" of flavorful folkways. Its deep, ancient alleys, clusters of ancestral halls, and ancient dwellings embody a rich tapestry of culture and simple folk customs. The village's 72 ancient alleys crisscross through high walls and deep courtyards, creating a labyrinthine and mysterious atmosphere. Thirty-six ancient wells, some round and some square, radiate crystal-clear water. A magnificent cluster of eight ancestral halls, both large and small, stretches over a 300-meter axis from the village's center to its base. The village exudes a vibrant rural New Year atmosphere and a rich sense of human connection.

Zuyuan Village: Nestled on the mountainside of Chajiaojian at an altitude of 685 meters, this village, founded in the Song Dynasty, boasts flowing springs and waterfalls, whitewashed walls and black tiles, and a charming, ancient Hui style. The village boasts historical and cultural attractions such as a water inlet, an ancient bridge, ancient dwellings, ancient trees, and Sixian Ridge. It is particularly famous for its thousand-year-old yew trees and over 100 acres of terraced fields. It is one of Huangshan City's top 100 photography spots.
