Southern Anhui's Secret Gechuanjian | High mountain meadows, crossing Gechuanjian, where most gates are open

Day 1 Nanjing → Jinchuan

07:15

07:15-07:30 We gathered and signed in at Exit 1 of Andemen, Nanjing Metro Line 1, when we saw the yellow China-TravelNote flag.

07:30

We'll depart on time. On board, the tour leader will introduce everyone and play some interactive games, creating a lively atmosphere. We'll also stop at a service area for lunch.

13:00

Arrive at the starting point, warm up, and then set off! Enter the first major stone gate. From Likeng (580 meters), follow the ancient trail up to Fuquanshan Village (885 meters). This involves passing through ten gates and seven or eight waterfalls, taking about 2.5 hours at a relatively easy pace. Enjoy the scenery and the sounds of song along the way. The karst stone gates, each with its own majestic and diverse shapes, and the ancient Hui-style buildings towering over the valley, are all within easy reach. The ancient trail stretches through ten gates in total. Stop by Xiaowuxi Village or Zaotie Village for a short break before continuing the hike.

4:00 PM

Arrive at the end of today's hike - Fuquan Mountain (also called Fuchuan Mountain by locals), and arrange accommodation and dinner.

6:00 PM

After dinner, everyone gathered together around the small brazier, chatting about Jin Yong's novels and reminiscing about Wuji and Zhiruo.

Driving time: about 5 hours

Hiking: Today's hike is about 4km, with an ascent of about 400m

Note: Food and drink in the mountains are poor, costing around 40 yuan per person; the voltage at the accommodation is unstable, and you may not be able to wash or brush your teeth.

Day 2 Jinchuan → Nanjing

04:00

You must catch the first ray of dawn, so you need to get up early at around 4 o'clock and hike for about 1.5 hours to reach the sunrise viewing point on the top of the mountain (you must know this when you sign up). The time is subject to the notification of the team leader!

Standing on the top of the peak and gazing into the distance, you can’t help but feel a surge of pride when you see the winding and undulating Paomaliang.

Then overlook the magnificent Shimen from different angles, and Yunding Village on the mountain (the folk Potala)!

Descend at the right time and take another line down the mountain. This is a great and comfortable hiking route.

13:00

Arrive at the destination and meet the bus for a pleasant return journey.

6:00 PM

Back to our starting point in Nanjing, we were reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in our eyes.

Driving time: about 5 hours

Hiking: Hiking distance: 8km, climbing about 600m

Note: The weather in the mountains is changeable. We will adjust the hiking route and time of the day according to the actual situation. Please be aware!

Lost for 600 years, the beautiful Huizhou scenery of Gechuanjian has been revived in its splendor. Home to the remains of the Mingjiao headquarters in western Zhejiang, it also boasts a mysterious alpine karst landscape. With its mountains, rivers, and ancient villages, the ancient Shanyue culture is well-preserved, making it a popular spot for hiking, exploring, and even hiking. Legend has it that "Shimen is never locked, and Tianmen is never closed at night," and that Ge Xuan cultivated his skills here. It's considered the 36th blessed site of Taoism and the real-life Guangmingding Summit from "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber." It's known as the Yangtze River Delta's pristine, intermediate-level outdoor hiking destination and a Shanyue secret in East China.
