Day 1 Hangzhou → Gechuanjian → Hangzhou

All day

7:00-7:30 Gather at Huanglong Seafood Stall and sign in.

After checking in, we boarded the bus and departed for Jinchuan Township, She County, where our tour leader provided an interactive introduction. The journey was filled with laughter and joy as
we arrived at the "Outdoor Wulin Main Forum" around 10:30 AM for our warm-up. We then entered the first major stone gate and ascended the ancient trail from Likeng (580 meters) to Fuquanshan Village (885 meters).
This easy hike involved passing through ten gates and seven or eight waterfalls, taking about two hours. The scenery was breathtaking, and the song filled the air. The karst stone gates, each with its own unique shape, were majestic and impressive. Ancient Hui-style buildings towered over the valley, and the ancient trail offered breathtaking scenery. In total, nine of the ten gates were still open.
Around 12:00 PM, we arrived at Fuquanshan for lunch. After a short rest, we continued our journey, ascending a steep slope for about 1.5 kilometers, a total climb of approximately 600 meters. It felt like the Despair Slope of Wugong Mountain. While we were panting and sweating profusely, we also felt incredibly refreshed! Arriving at Daguangmingding, Gechuanjian Peak stands at 1,480 meters. Standing atop, gaze out over the winding Paomaliang Ridge and the Zhejiang-Anhui Hengduan Mountains, nestled amidst the mist. A sense of grandeur fills the air! Descending from Paipai Mountain, we follow the ridgeline through alpine meadows, where the sky is vast, the grass is endless, and the wind blows through the grass. It's time for the descent! Trekking poles and knee pads are recommended for the descent to prevent slippery conditions. Along the way, you'll be able to overlook the village below, resembling a small Switzerland of the East.

Around 17:30, we went down to the bus stop and got on the bus back to Hangzhou.

Around 20:00, we returned to the starting point in Hangzhou. Everyone was still reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes!

Driving time: about 2.5 hours

Hiking: about 12 kilometers of loop, cumulative climbing of about 1000 meters, taking about 6-7 hours

Note: It is a bit strenuous, so it is recommended to use trekking poles, knee pads, and wear long clothes and trousers.

Fuchuan Mountain in the southern part of Huizhou is deep, steep, and unique, making it the most beautiful mountain in our county. It's also said to be the most prestigious mountain in Jiangnan, and that the universe had ten gates there; if we were to rank springs, it would be the most prestigious mountain in the southeast. Its undulating peaks, bizarre shapes, and countless variations are evident. The classic description of "Ten Gates and Nine Locks" reads: Atop the mountain, towering clouds, lies a Dragon Pool, from which springs burst forth, cleaving the mountainside. Ten gates and nine locks stand opposite each other like a gorge, pouring into a waterfall that cascades down upon impact with the rocks. Behind the rocks lies a pool, its depth unfathomable, the dragon's private palace. Every day, when rain threatens, clouds appear above it, like a hat, offering accurate predictions of weather. Dotted with mysteriously vanished Mingjiao villages and pastoral idylls, the ancient Huizhou-Zhejiang Merchants' Road, traversing the ancient Huizhou-Yuqian and Lin'an provinces, features 3-4.5-foot-thick bluestone slabs. Retracing the Huizhou Merchants' Road.

Gechuanjian, the tallest mountain in southeastern China, is a beautiful Huizhou landscape lost for 600 years. It's home to the remains of the Mingjiao headquarters in western Zhejiang, along with mysterious alpine karst landforms. With mountains, water, and ancient villages, the ancient Shanyue culture is well-preserved, making it a perfect spot for hiking, exploring, and even photography.
