Arriving at the starting point of the hike, Qingzhai Village, we disembarked and warmed up with our tour leader. This warm-up is a must! Afterward, we set off. The hike along the ancient trail, through towering mountains, lush greenery, and a beautiful landscape, was complete. Occasionally, birds and frogs appeared in the forest, filling our ears with the sounds of nature.

At noon, we'll have a lunch break at a designated spot, sharing the delicious food we brought along. We'll then continue our journey, passing ancient Torreya trees, beautiful water curtains, boundless mountains, and ever-lasting smoke. It's like a paradise, a fairyland-like village!

Walking slowly among the mountains and rivers, I unknowingly reached the end of Shibadu. It is a delightful sight and I will never want to leave.

5:30 PM

We arrived at the end of this trip. The bus had been waiting for us for a long time, so we all got on and headed back to Suzhou.

9:00 PM

We returned to the starting point. Everyone was reluctant to leave. We said take care to each other, kissed goodbye with tears in our eyes, and made an appointment to meet again next time.

Driving time: 3.5 hours

Hiking: Today's hike is 11km, with an altitude gain of about 300 meters. The total time is expected to be about 4 hours.

The Ancient Salt Road was a route used by ancient salt smugglers. Xinchang borders the salt-producing Ninghai region to the east. To transport their contraband from Ninghai, these smugglers chose a narrow path through the deep mountains. Because this path was less likely to be intercepted by soldiers, more and more smugglers used it, and it became a convenient passage for mountain dwellers to enter and exit the mountains. Eventually, individuals contributed money and effort to pave the road with stones and build resting pavilions. Gradually, this path became known as the Ancient Salt Road. The main trunk of the ancient road stretches approximately 20 kilometers. Xinchang is located in the hilly region of eastern Zhejiang, where the remnants of the Tiantai, Siming, and Kuaiji Mountains extend throughout the territory. The Ancient Salt Road winds through these towering peaks, remaining remarkably well-preserved to this day. The scenery along the way is breathtaking, with lush greenery and clear waters.
