Caving rappelling · Jilongshan Earth Center Adventure, natural cave

Day 1 Hangzhou → Tonglu → Jilong Mountain → Hangzhou

07:00

Meet and sign in at Exit F of Huanglong Sports Center Subway Station

07:30

We set off on time and arrived at the foot of Jilong Mountain 2 hours later.

09:30

Go to the toilet, go up the mountain, and go downhill along the mechanized farming road to Chaotian Cave.

10:00

Donning your caving gear, you'll embark on an exciting cliff rappelling experience led by your instructor. Under your instructor's guidance, you'll descend a 40-meter-high natural cliff face, transforming into Spider-Man. Halfway down, you'll enter a natural cave, then soar through the air to the bottom, giving you a truly airborne experience.

12:00

After the rappel, we will arrive at the mountain camp for lunch and rest. You can bring your own lunch or eat noodles at the camp.

13:00

Pack your gear and set off light (caving in the summer can easily get your shoes and pants wet, so bring a change of shoes and clothing. Military rubber boots are available for rent at the camp for 5 yuan a pair, and since they're reusable, it's recommended to bring a pair of socks). Grab your helmet, headlamp, or flashlight, and head to Wolong Cave for your true caving adventure. Embark on an exciting and challenging cave exploration journey, witnessing the ever-changing stalactites, hearing the eerie sound of dripping water, and witnessing the glint of fluorescent lights within the cave—experiencing the wonders of nature!

2:00 PM

After coming out of the cave and returning to the camp to return the equipment and take our own equipment, we reorganized the team. Then we went down the winding mountain path and came to the steep cliff of Leopard Cliff. We rappelled down with the rope and it was very exciting.

4:30 PM

Continue down to the return point and get on the bus to go home.

7:00 PM

We returned to the starting point at around 7 p.m., and everyone was reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes.

Driving time: about 2 hours

Hiking: The loop is about 10 kilometers, with a total ascent of about 450 meters, mainly on mechanized farming roads and ancient trails.

Note: Rappelling, caving, and Leopard Cliff are optional and not mandatory. Please refrain from digging bamboo shoots during the activity to avoid unnecessary disputes with local villagers.
If there are a large number of local groups, the tour leader may adjust the itinerary to reduce waiting time for rappelling, ascending from Leopard Cliff, exploring the caves first, and then rappelling. Please be advised!

Q: Is rappelling dangerous? Can I choose not to participate if I’m afraid of heights?

A: Jilongshan Camp has been operating for decades without incident. Our instructors are members of the China Mountaineering Association and are experienced outdoor instructors. Those with a fear of heights are advised not to participate in the rappelling. The activity fee is non-refundable. Thank you for your understanding!

Q: Is caving dangerous?
A: This activity is just a caving experience, not a professional cave exploration. Please pay attention to your own safety during the activity. There are no major safety hazards.

Q: Can children participate?

A: Children’s participation depends on their own conditions. It is not recommended for children with no outdoor experience to participate.
