The pagoda is guarded by 16 statues of gods, including elephants, golden roosters, birds of wisdom, and the twelve zodiac animals. Day 4 Lujiang Town → Tengchong

All day

Cross the Longjiang Bridge and drive from Mangshi to Tengchong

The Longjiang Bridge is often called "a project in the clouds." Standing at the bridgehead and gazing across the water, the entire bridge, shrouded in mist and clouds, is a truly magnificent sight. It's also known as Yunnan's scenic thoroughfare, connecting the Gaoligong Mountains on one end to the remote city of Tengchong on the other.

Feel the warmth gushing out of the earth at Rehai, Tengchong's signature spot.

Upon arrival in Tengchong, we'll first visit the Rehai Scenic Area, a prime example of Tengchong's volcanic landscape. Hot springs gush forth from the surface, with the most spectacular being the Big Boiling Pot, where temperatures reach around 100 degrees Celsius and steam rises to the sky. As you approach Rehai, mist shrouds the area. The Big Boiling Pot, Exploding Spring, and Beauty Pool each offer breathtaking scenery. The hot springs are not only a place for viewing and bathing, but also for steaming food. This is the origin of the famous Yunnan 18 Oddities: eggs tied with straw for sale. Numerous air holes have been carved into the sides of the steps of the Big Boiling Pot, forming small troughs. These holes are used by vendors to steam eggs, peanuts, and other foods tied with straw.

Heshun Ancient Town Citywalk, explore the important town on the Ancient Tea Horse Road

Heshun Ancient Town is a key town on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road and a must-stop on the Southwest Silk Road. Built around a mountain, the town's buildings rise gradually from east to west, stretching for two to three kilometers. The town is surrounded by a vast plain, with a clear stream winding around the village and willows gracing the banks, creating a harmonious, pastoral landscape. After checking in, depart at an appropriate time to explore the town's winding alleys, its old houses, streets, and ancient ancestral halls. Before the crowds gather, the ancient town remains peaceful. Unlock Heshun with 5,000 steps.

Driving distance: 92 km, about 1.5 hours

Note: Due to rainfall, the Rehai Scenic Area will be temporarily closed on July 14th. The opening time is undetermined. During the closure of the Rehai Scenic Area, you can choose to go to Beihai Wetland Park. Alternatively, you can skip Beihai Wetland Park and go to Heshun Ancient Town early. The Rehai Scenic Area ticket will be refunded.

Day 5 Tengchong Full Day

All day

Visit Tengchong Volcano Park and explore the magnificent geological landscape

The park contains 97 volcanic bodies, 25 of which are well-preserved (including craters and cones), with a variety of cone types. The park also boasts several lava terraces, primarily those surrounding the crater, those surrounding the cone, and those overflowing from fissures. These lava terraces are extensive and gently sloping. These are not only a valuable natural resource but also a precious, non-renewable geological heritage.

National Intangible Cultural Heritage - Tengchong Shadow Play

Visit Tengchong Liu Yongzhou Shadow Play to enjoy a world intangible cultural heritage - shadow puppet art, experience the Central Plains culture active in the remote area, paint the shadow puppets yourself, and DIY a unique memory of Tengchong.

Summer Special: Hunting for Wild Mushrooms and Savoring Yunnan Flavors

Summer is a vibrant season in Yunnan. With the arrival of the rainy season, everything bursts into life. Wild mushrooms typically emerge from the soil in successive batches after a summer rain, with different varieties displaying diverse colors and shapes. Common edible wild mushrooms found in Tengchong include tricholoma, milk mushrooms, porcini, and chicken mushrooms. To ensure you don't miss out on this unique Yunnan experience, the July-August tour will skip the Tengchong shadow puppet show and instead offer a wild mushroom-picking experience (including dinner that day, no additional charge). Led by a local mushroom chef, you'll explore the forests near the volcanic park to search for wild mushrooms, identify edible species, and bring some home to a restaurant for a delicious taste of Yunnan. (Picking wild mushrooms is a bit of a gamble, as their growth is significantly affected by the weather. If you're unable to find any edible mushrooms, please be patient; we'll purchase and prepare them at the market or restaurant.)

Driving time: 52 km, about 2 hours

Note: If the Volcano Geopark is closed due to force majeure, a record-keeping procedure will be initiated. Head to Beihai Wetland Park, a volcanic barrier lake with lush aquatic plants floating on the surface, creating a lake-like and grassland-like atmosphere. On the way to the wetland center, you'll spot a variety of curious water birds. After arriving at the wetland center, you can stroll along the boardwalk at a leisurely pace.

Day 6 Tengchong → Tengchong Tuofeng Airport ★ Dismissal day

All day

Western Yunnan Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall, pay tribute to the martyrs of the Anti-Japanese War

After breakfast, we'll visit the Western Yunnan Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall. This cemetery, built to commemorate the fallen soldiers of the 20th Group Army of the Chinese Expeditionary Force during the capture of Tengchong during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, is one of the largest and best-preserved memorials for those killed on the front lines of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in China. The Chinese Expeditionary Force engaged in fierce battles with the Japanese invaders in Western Yunnan, blocking the enemy on the west bank of the Nujiang River. The intensity of the battle, known as the "Scorched Earth War of Resistance," commemorates a tragic and heroic chapter in history. We'll lay a white chrysanthemum in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for peace and restore national memory.

Special note: The Yunnan-Western Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall is closed on Mondays. If it falls on a Monday, it will be swapped with D4 Ancient Town Citywalk. The fee remains the same.

Today is the end of the tour, and we will arrange airport drop-off around 12:00. It takes about 30 minutes from Tengchong city to the airport. Please book your return flight after 14:00. Please relax this policy during holidays. If you need to take an earlier flight back, you will be deemed to have automatically given up your visit to the Western Yunnan Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall. Tourists who need to leave early or later are required to pay for their own transportation to the airport.

Driving distance: 18 km, about 0.5 hours
