Green Field Cycling · Qingshan Lake | Cycling in the Metasequoia Forest, an Autumn Lakeside Experience

Day 1 Shanghai → Qingshan Lake → Qingshan Lake → Shanghai

07:15

Meet at the designated China-TravelNote location between 07:15 and 07:30 and sign in. Depart at 07:30, interactive and itinerary briefing on board, full of laughter and fun all the way!

11:00

Arrive at the Qingshan Lake cycling starting point, choose your bike, and have a group briefing on the itinerary and cycling precautions. After warming up, set off together.

The first stop was a thousand acres of rare water forest in China, featuring pond cypress trees introduced from the Amazon in South America in the 1960s. We savored the lakeside breeze at Qingshan Lake, stopping to take in the stunning scenery and snap a beautiful photo. Then, we began our lakeside bike ride, enjoying the breathtakingly beautiful greenway. Duckweed drifted across the lake, creating a blend of vastness and serenity, while the mountains were beautiful and elegant, creating a feeling of "the shadows of the mountains trembled majestically, the light of the azure ponds shimmered with life."

Little swans with plump feathers and rounded hips swim across the lake, while graceful white-necked long-tailed pheasants or ethereal white and black storks occasionally flit through the forest. Such a tranquil haven amidst the bustle of the city is hard to find.

12:30

We turned into a local alleyway and found ourselves surrounded by small restaurants, perfect for lunch! Let's refuel in time!

After the meal, we continued our journey to the most beautiful section, where there were climbs and descents, so everyone had to work harder.

The lush foliage of the Metasequoia glyptostroboides is green in spring and summer, gradually turning dark red in autumn and winter, creating a unique landscape with different seasons. It's truly one of a kind! (The 2025 Metasequoia viewing season is expected to begin in November.)

4:15 PM

We finished our ride and took a bus back to Shanghai.

8:00 PM

When we returned to our starting point in Shanghai, everyone was still reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes!

1. What if it rains during the event?

2-3 days before the event, we will decide whether the event will proceed as scheduled based on the weather forecast and route conditions. Please pay attention to our notifications. Most activities can proceed as usual even if there is light rain. There is still fun to be had on rainy days. If heavy rain is forecast, the event will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to everyone.

2. Is this route crowded?

Most of our routes are natural and niche, with relatively small traffic. Of course, it also depends on the registration situation for each period. Generally, ordinary models are 37-seat buses, and a few large models are 53-seat. Each car has a certain proportion of tour leaders to ensure the quality of the event.
