The great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai renamed Mount Jiuhua, referring to the mountain's nine peaks, which resemble nine naturally carved lotus flowers. Since then, Mount Jiuhua has gained widespread fame, a reputation that endures to this day. Since then, renowned scholars and literati have flocked to explore the mountain, lingering in their captivating tales and writing countless poems and lyrics in praise of it. Liu Yuxi, a prominent Tang Dynasty writer, was deeply impressed by his visit to Jiuhua, writing, "The sight of its wondrous peaks is breathtaking," "Nine peaks compete for beauty, their splendor extraordinary," and "It is the most extraordinary mountain in the world." Mount Jiuhua's majesty has earned it the nickname "the foremost mountain in the southeast." As early as 1,200 years ago, the Buddhist Ksitigarbha founded a Buddhist temple on the mountain. Along with Mount Wutai in Shanxi, Mount Emei in Sichuan, and Mount Putuo in Zhejiang, it gradually became the sacred sanctuary of the four great bodhisattvas: Ksitigarbha, Manjusri, Samantabhadra, and Avalokitesvara, and is now known as one of the Four Famous Mountains of Chinese Buddhism.

Daguling was one of the ancient Huizhou routes used by merchants and believers from the Huizhou and Hangzhou areas to travel to the mountains for business. Chang Yuchun, a founding general of the Ming Dynasty, once stationed his troops here to confront Chen Youliang's forces. His troops were scattered among the towering mountains, making transportation and information difficult. Frustrated with the difficulty of mobilizing troops, Chang Yuchun spotted a peak rising high into the clouds on the side of the mountain, offering a panoramic view. It was a strategic route in all directions. The steepness and sheer beauty of the mountain were perfectly visible. He then ordered a war drum to be placed on the summit, using it to transmit signals: warnings and dispatching troops in times of war. The sound of the drums echoed through the valley, reaching a radius of ten miles, hence the name Daguling.
