Qingyuan Water Fun | Hiking Shijiao Beach, playing in the water at Taihe Ancient Cave, and enjoying sauna chicken

Day 1 Guangzhou → Shijiao Beach → Taihe Ancient Cave → Guangzhou

07:30

Meet and sign in at Exit B of Ke Village. Look for the yellow China-TravelNote flag.

08:00

We set off on time. The tour leader will explain the itinerary and precautions to everyone on the bus, and lead everyone in ice-breaking games. We will laugh and chat all the way to the first destination.

10:00

Once you've reached Shijiao Beach, disembark and walk along the Beijiang River. To your right, you'll find endless green grasslands (you can see the S-bend along the way), and to your left, you'll find farmers' farms and the surging Beijiang River. After 2km, you can stop by Shijiao Beach to check in and see cattle, horses, and boats. There's a coffee shop at the end. If the weather is too hot, you can use the air conditioning inside and gaze at the greenery through the glass windows to cool down your sweltering heat (it's hot in the summer, so be prepared!).

11:30

Gather at around 11:45 to go to the restaurant for lunch, and arrive at Sauna Chicken Restaurant at around 12:30 to start lunch time.

2:00 PM

We set off for Taihe Ancient Cave, which is a half-hour drive away. After the tour leader purchased tickets, we entered the scenic area and saw lush greenery. There is a spring-fed swimming pool at the foot of the mountain, where those who like swimming can also swim (the spring water from the top of the mountain is of very good quality, and you need to buy a separate ticket to enter the swimming pool). Those who hike up the stream will follow the plank road all the way up the mountain. Along the way, you will see tree-lined stream sections and many pools. The water is crystal clear, like glass water. We will choose a suitable pool and play to our heart's content (the whole round trip is about 4 kilometers. At the top is a quiet Taoist temple. You can overlook the canyon scenery from the gate of the Taoist temple).

5:15 PM

Gather together for the return trip and board the bus back to Guangzhou. Arrive at Guangzhou Kecun before 20:00 to end the day's pleasant journey. See you next time at the Tourists Arena.

Driving time: about 2 hours one way

Hiking: 7.5km of hiking (3.5km of Shijiao Beach, 4km of Taihe Ancient Cave, with a total elevation gain of about 200 meters)

Taihe Ancient Cave, first built in 1854 during the fourth year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign in the Qing Dynasty, boasts a history of over 150 years and is a sacred Taoist site. The four large characters "Taihe Ancient Cave" inscribed on the mountain gate were inscribed by Zhu Ruzhen, a native of Qingyuan and the last runner-up in the imperial examination during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. Taihe Ancient Cave attracts visitors with its beautiful natural environment and unique caves, secluded valleys, unusual rocks, and cliff carvings. Besides hiking, river rafting and tracing are also a delight for many visitors.
