A Hong Kong-style weekend | Hiking the Ngong Ping Campground and cycling through Tai Mei Tuk

Day 1 Guangzhou → Shenzhen Port [Cross Border] → Sai Kung → Tai Mei Tuk Youth Hostel

The group will gather at Exit B of Kecun Subway Station. Please take the initiative to find the tour leader to sign in. Please arrive early to avoid being late.

Get on the bus on time and set off. In the bus, you will introduce yourself to each other, introduce the attractions, interact with each other, and start a journey worth remembering with happy songs.

Those meeting in Shenzhen should meet at the Liantang Port in Shenzhen. After crossing the border, you can charter a car or take a taxi to the Sai Kung hiking starting point.

12:00

Arrive at the Sai Kung hiking starting point, warm up briefly, and start hiking the Ma On Shan Country Trail towards Ngong Ping Campground. Arrive at a suitable platform for lunch and a rest break.

2:00 PM

Continue to Ngong Ping Camp, where you'll find a rare and breathtaking alpine meadow in Hong Kong, known as the "Altai of Hong Kong." Ngong Ping Camp is also located on Section 4 of the MacLehose Trail, offering panoramic views of the Sai Kung Pier.

5:00 PM

Go down the mountain towards Ma On Shan Park. When you reach the end point, take a taxi to Tai Mei Tuk Youth Hostel to check in.

6:30 PM

After arriving at the hostel and checking in, take a short rest and then go to a restaurant near the hostel for dinner. Those who are interested can also try the barbecue buffet.

8:00 PM

After dinner, you can enjoy the stars and the moon, or play board games and drink some wine in the hostel and take a rest at the right time.

Hiking: About 8km of hiking, with a cumulative ascent of about 300 meters, taking 3-4 hours

Day 2 Tai Mei Tuk → Pak Shek Kok Park → Tolo Harbour Park → Sha Tin Park Dismissal

Get up, wash up, and have breakfast. Friends who get up early can go to the dam to run and take pictures.

After breakfast, I packed my luggage and went to the bicycle shop to choose a bicycle, learned about the precautions for riding, and started riding.

We first rode to Tai Mei Tuk Dam, and rode along the dam, looking up at Pat Sin Leng and taking in the mountain and sea views.

We stopped at the seaside park along the way to rest, find food and drink water.

Continue on your journey, passing the Pak Shek Kok Promenade and Hong Kong Science Park, where you can enjoy the panoramic sea views of Tolo Harbour.

Return the vehicle near Sha Tin Park and the activity ends. Sha Tin MTR Station is a 5-minute walk away. You can continue shopping in downtown Hong Kong or take the East Rail to the border crossing for your return trip to Shenzhen/Guangzhou.
