Everyone exclaimed that there was such a spectacular autumn scenery in this valley. It was like being in Kanas. The fiery redwoods, even the grass was covered with red leaves, like a fairy tale world. Everyone was crazy about taking pictures and posing. Then we took a small path to climb up and look down. Day 2 Hotel → Wukeng → Shanghai

All day

We had breakfast at the hotel at 7:00 AM
and boarded the bus for our departure at 7:30 AM.
We arrived at the Wukeng Peak Forest starting point around 9:00 AM. The entire Wukeng-Furong trek took approximately 4-5 hours, with breathtaking scenery woven throughout the scenic area and along the entire ridgeline. We first explored the Elephant Trunk Cave, then wandered through exposed rocks and sparse, low-lying shrubs, a leisurely stroll through the garden, offering breathtaking views. We then walked along the Wukeng Skywalk and visited Elephant Trunk Hill for a panoramic view and uninterrupted scenery. Lunch was served in time.
Around 2:00 PM, we retreated to the foot of the mountain and boarded the bus back to Shanghai.

Around 19:00, we returned to our departure point in Shanghai. We were reluctant to leave, kissed goodbye with tears in our eyes, and made plans for our next trip together!!!

Driving time: Wukeng-Shanghai 5 hours

Hiking: The hiking distance is 7km, with a total ascent of about 400m, mainly along mountain roads and ridge lines.

Note: The hike to Wukeng takes about 4-5 hours, so please bring your own food.

Linhai Redwood Forest: On a road nestled between Dongteng Tongkeng Village and Xiaozhi Xixia Village in Linhai, nestled between mountains and rivers, lie three vast groves of redwood trees. Due to a lack of access to a road, this area remained hidden and protected in seclusion. Only in recent years, with the completion of the road, has it gradually been discovered. In the autumn of Jiangnan, countless people chase the fiery crimson of maple leaves, creating fond memories along the ancient trails and witnessing the beauty of autumn. Many places are already packed during the crucial days. In contrast, the redwood trees here and the hiking trails along the way offer both the opportunity to experience and admire the vibrant colors of the redwoods in full bloom under the sun and the feeling of exploring a hidden gem.

The Taizhou City Wall, also known as the Jiangnan Great Wall, stretches over 6,000 meters, with over 5,000 meters remaining. Starting from Lansheng Gate in the east, it winds along the ridge of Beigu Mountain to Yanxia Pavilion, traversing steep cliffs to the east bank of the Ling River and extending to the western foot of Jinshan. The wall, nestled in the mountain's terrain, overlooks the river, with its steepest point to the north. Construction began in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and has been repeatedly demolished, rebuilt, and repaired. In 1712, during the 51st year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign in the Qing Dynasty, a barbican was constructed, serving both military defense and flood control functions.

Ziyang Old Street: Ziyang Street stretches 1,080 meters and boasts countless historical sites. Among them are the stone tablet commemorating Zhang Boduan (Ziyang Zhenren), the founder of Southern School Taoism during the Song Dynasty, the Ziyang Bridge, and the Ziyang Archway. The Ziyang Hometown and the ruins of Ziyang Palace are also located, with the foundation stone of the original Ziyang Palace's south gate archway still well-preserved. There's also the "Five Phoenix Archway," erected in 1591 by five successful candidates, Wu Zhiyu, Peng Shihuan, Wang Ruchun, Zhang Yingke, and Xu Ziyu. Furthermore, the Zheng Guangwen Temple on Beigushan Mountain at the north end of Ziyang Street was built in 764 AD, the second year of the Guangde reign of the Tang Dynasty, to commemorate Zheng Qian, who pioneered culture and education in Taizhou. At the southern end of Ziyang Street, Longxing Temple, nestled at the foot of Jinzi Mountain and adjacent to the ancient city wall, is Taizhou's premier temple.

Wukeng Peak Forest Scenic Area is located in Wukeng Village, Lianpan Township. Wukeng is known for its two mountains, eight caves, twelve peaks, and thirty-six strange rocks, earning it the nickname "Little Wild Goose Dang." Song Wentianxiang, while sailing past Taozhu, praised Wukeng, saying, "It is a fairyland on the sea, where I met a lonely dandelion. In a painting of all things, in a jade world of thousands of cliffs." Feng Gengxue, a Qing Dynasty scholar, described Wukeng as follows: The sea floats in the southeast, with mountains appearing and disappearing, stretching as far as the eye can see. Within a 20-li radius, strange rocks and beautiful cliffs stand tall and drooping, and are magnificent and intertwined. "The beauty of its caves is unmatched by Tiantai and Yandang." Looking up, one can see high cliffs and sheer cliffs, with two caves separated by a line, similar in size and shape, resembling a pair of nostrils, commonly known as the Ox Nose Cave.
