Around 9:00 AM, we arrived at Yongtai Temple, one of China's oldest existing imperial nunnery temples. Originally named Minglian Temple, it was built during the Northern Wei Dynasty. It was renamed Yongtai Temple in the Tang Dynasty, Yongchan Temple in the Jin Dynasty, and then again after the Yuan Dynasty, before finally becoming Yongtai Temple and Yongtai Chan Temple. Not only is this the first monastery for nuns built after the spread of Zen Buddhism to the Central Plains, it's also the oldest existing nunnery in my country and is listed as one of the first batch of provincial-level key cultural relics under Henan Province's protection.

After a short warm-up, we started hiking. Walking in the natural oxygen bar, taking a deep breath can purify the heart and lungs.

Around 10:00, we climbed the wild mountain with our hands and feet, and walked like a cat in the mountains. From the huge rock on the viewing platform halfway up the mountain, we could enjoy the whole view of Taishi Mountain, which was magnificent and spectacular.

This is a classic route through the Taishishan Mountains of Songshan. The ascent is primarily climbing, offering a comfortable and comfortable experience (and can even alleviate mild acrophobia). The scenery is stunning, with unusual rocks and panoramic views of Shaoshishan Mountain. Meadows offer excellent filming opportunities. For those who enjoy climbing but lack experience, this route is a good place to practice. Wild grapes are found on the descent, so trekking poles are recommended.

12:00 Arrive at the farmhouse on Songding Meadow, where you can enjoy hot pot dishes, acorn jelly, and instant noodles. You can also bring your own food.

1:00 PM: Visit the popular Songding Plateau meadow. This meadow is the largest pristine alpine grassland in the Central Plains. Perched atop a mountain over 1,260 meters above sea level, it evokes a dreamlike atmosphere, piercing through the clouds and mist. It stretches approximately 2 kilometers from east to west, and varies in width from 200 to 900 meters from north to south, covering an area of over 2,000 mu. The meadow's vegetation is primarily grasses and shrubs, reaching a height of one to two feet, interspersed with countless wildflowers. The view stretches as far as the eye can see, resembling a vast sea of alpine grass. In summer, the grass stretches to the horizon, and exotic flowers bloom in profusion. In winter, the meadow is blanketed in snow, creating a breathtaking spectacle, offering a sense of vastness and an ethereal beauty.

14:30 Go down the mountain at Taizigou. It is said that Taizigou got its name because Prince Jin of King Ling of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty cultivated himself here.

The ditch is clean and the water is clear, and the grass is lush. It is like a painting gallery that makes people dazzled and refreshed. It is a rare place with original ecological beauty.

16:30 Return to the starting point of Yongtai Temple

Arrived in Zhengzhou around 18:30 and kissed goodbye with tears

Driving time: 2 hours

Hiking: 6 km, 500-600 meters of climbing

Note: This is a non-scenic area route and is suitable for beginners with a certain level of physical strength or those who like to challenge themselves to climb.

Prince Jin, surnamed Ji, given name Jin and courtesy name Ziqiao, was born in Luoyang. He is revered as the ancestor of the Wang family, hence his later names, Prince Jin and Prince Qiao. An ancient poem evokes the line, "The immortal Prince Qiao, whose like is hard to compare." In Prince Valley, further down the mountain, a Prince Temple commemorates Prince Jin.

In the Ming Dynasty, there is a poem called "Hoping for My Son to Advance to the Peak":

The Buer Gate opens to the first mountain, and the Shaoyang River flows eastward with gurgling water.

The peak hangs between the five peaks in the sky, and the steps lead to the world after thousands of turns.

Only the stone shadow remains facing the wall, and no crane flies back when I play the flute.

I have heard of the Nine-Peaked Lotus Fort, and that swallowing the white jade ointment can keep one young.

The poem mentions Shaoyang, Wuru, Lianhuazhai, Baiyu, etc., all of which are peaks of Songshan. This route is a cultural route with good scenery and is suitable for beginners.

Catwalk Horn Stone

Zijin Peak is the highest point of the Cat Path and the Five-Path Climbing Tower. Both routes offer easy climbing, requiring both hands and feet. The Cat Path, in particular, offers a stretch and a comfortable four-wheel drive experience without being tiring. The numerous unusual rocks offer both scenic views and a relaxing climb, as well as a good workout.

The ascent starts from Yongtai Temple, which is located at the western foot of Taishi Mountain, facing Shaolin Temple and backed by Wangdu Peak. It was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty for Princess Yongtai. Yongtai Temple is the first temple for female monks built after the introduction of Zen Buddhism into the Central Plains, and is known as the "Female Shaolin Temple".
