Destination Introduction

Forty kilometers east of Lingchuan County, Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, lies a towering peak known as Wangmang Ridge. Legend has it that Wang Mang, a lord of the Western Han Dynasty, set up camp here in pursuit of Liu Xiu, hence the name. The treacherous peaks and vast, ever-changing sea of clouds have earned it the nickname "Cloud Mountain Phantom." At the foot of Wangmang Ridge lies the beautiful Xiyagou, named after the legendary immortal Taoist priests who once smelted tin and made elixirs there. The Lingchuan County Chronicles record: "To the east, the barrier of Madong Ridge, to the west, the obstruction of Huashan, to the north, the perilous peaks of Wangmang Ridge, and to the south, the towering peaks of Qingfeng. This chasm between these four mountains is known as Xiyagou. Due to the rugged terrain and the lack of roads, the ravine's inhabitants are largely self-sufficient, living on their own, though occasionally, heroic individuals risk their lives to escape."
