Autumn scenery of Siming Lake - Bird's Nest Ancient Road, where half lake water and half flame

Day 1 Ningbo → Siming Lake → Bird's Nest Ancient Trail → Ningbo

All day

From 7:30 to 8:00, we gathered at the south gate of Youngor Gymnasium and set off. Under the guidance of the team leader, the team members introduced themselves to each other, got to know each other, and interacted with each other. There was laughter and joy along the way, and before we knew it, we arrived at our destination.

This morning, we arrived at Siming Lake, home to one of East China's most beautiful redwood forests. The leaves were already turning red, their reflections in the water creating a stunning spectacle. The autumn scenery of the redwoods in Siming Lake is truly dazzling. Towards us lies the vast expanse of water, and behind us, the redwoods, a vibrant red mass, half lake, half flame. Witness this autumn spectacle!

Spreading out a picnic mat, the tourists gathered their groceries and enjoyed a delicious meal, strolled around, and snapped photos. The warm midday sun dispelled the chill from the lake. This was a truly memorable experience of Jiangnan's brief autumn.

Around 12:00 PM, we boarded the bus and headed for the Bird's Nest Ancient Trail. After about half an hour, we arrived at the starting point, skirted a small Metasequoia forest, and reached the trail entrance, where we began our ascent.

Here, you'll find verdant bamboo and weathered bluestone; the lake and mountains complement each other, while a tranquil redwood forest stands by the lake. The entire route, a blend of mountains, water, and ancient paths, has only recently gained popularity among hikers, making it a truly wonderful and immersive experience.

Around 16:00, return to the starting point and board the bus for the return journey.

Around 18:00, we returned to the starting point. Everyone was reluctant to leave and said goodbye with tears in their eyes!!!

Siming Lake, known as "Ten miles of misty waters and nine caves of heaven, mountains concealing spiritual beauty and waters harboring immortals," is located in Liangnong, a thousand-year-old cultural town in Yuyao, and within the boundaries of the ninth cave of Siming Mountain. Surrounding the lake are mountains, with 72 peaks interspersed with verdant peaks, both near and far. Throughout the ages, celebrities and sages have left behind numerous anecdotes and legends. Siming Lake is twice the size of West Lake and has a reservoir capacity 13 times that of West Lake. A monument on the lake reads, "Pearl of Eastern Zhejiang."
Yuyao Yanwo Village is located in the northern part of Siming Mountain, with an altitude of about 470 meters. It is composed of four natural villages, namely Zilongmiao, Hongjiaxiang, Shujiashan and Dongwanjie, forming the Yanwo administrative village. Because there is a basin of about 120 square meters between Shujiashan and Zilongmiao villages, which looks like a swallow's nest, it has been called Yanwo since ancient times. It is very well-known in Yuyao, especially the older generation often talks about Yanwo Village. Although it is not far from Yuyao urban area, due to its inferior economic development to other villages and towns, it has retained a relatively unique ancient style, with fresh air, and mountain springs and bamboo forests interspersed from time to time. A small path with historical traces that passes through this village is called the Yanwo Ancient Trail. From the perspective of tourism and hiking, the Yanwo Ancient Trail is worth visiting.
