Gongga Scenic Area│Hiking on the southwest slope

Day 1 Chongqing → Shimian → Caoke Tibetan Township

07:30

7:30 am: Meet and sign in at Exit 3B of Jiazhou Road Station on Metro Line 3 (look for staff holding yellow China-TravelNote flags);

Of course, self-introduction is indispensable on the bus. We refuse to let the boring and unfamiliar travel happen. The China-TravelNote staff will lead everyone to play games on the bus as part of the journey so that you can fully integrate into the whole activity itinerary.

It was an early start, also the first day of the holiday. The early gathering made us feel sleepy, so we relaxed in the car. We passed by Shimian and made an appointment for a Shimian barbecue.

4:00 PM

Arrive at Caoke Tibetan Township later in the day to relieve fatigue from a day's drive and check into the hotel for a short rest.

In the evening, you can meet up for Caoke Hot Springs, Caoke BBQ, and Caoke Chicken, all of which are special features of this place. With a warm and humid climate, no severe cold in winter and no scorching heat in summer, the unique climate and natural conditions here have formed a unique ecological environment. Soaking in a hot spring here and feeling the skin stimulation of ice and fire is a good choice to relieve fatigue.

Go to bed early at night, because tomorrow’s exciting journey is about to begin!

ps: You can bring your own swimsuit and enjoy the comfort of the plateau hot springs

2nd Tiancaoke Tibetan Township → Boundary Monument → Bawang Lake → Zimei Village

08:00

Get up early and pack your backpack. Have breakfast around 8:00. After breakfast, take a bus to the starting point of the Bawanghai hike. Hike lightly, enjoying the pristine forest along the way, and cross the Changtan River to reach Bawanghai.

This is a lake formed by the river flowing down from the glacier, rushing all the way to the embrace of the mountains. It is an ethereal and dreamy sea, eroded by glaciers and protected by cedars and pines. It has a unique charm in both the dry and wet seasons.

Here everyone takes beautiful photos, takes a short rest and arrives at the end of Bawanghai Lake, where they take a local vehicle to Zimei Village;

12:00

Arrive at Zimei Village, check into the inn, enjoy lunch, and then pack up and hike to Gongga Temple. The hike winds along the mountainside, surrounded by lush, primeval forest. Tall trees block out the sun, seemingly shutting out the hustle and bustle of the outside world. After about 4.5 kilometers, the main peak of Gongga Peak gradually emerges. The round trip to Gongga Temple is approximately 11 kilometers, with an ascent of about 500 meters, reaching a peak elevation of 3,750 meters. Those with better physical fitness can continue along the trail for about 3.5 kilometers to Nama Peak Base Camp.

6:00 PM

Back to the inn, we chatted under the stars at night;

Driving distance: 10km

Hiking: 7km to Bawanghai Lake with a total elevation gain of 250m; 11km round trip to Gongga Temple with a total elevation gain of 600m;

Day 3: Tianzimei Village → Zimei Pass → Bawanghai Lake → Chongqing

All day

After breakfast, drive to Zimei Pass to view Mount Gongga and wait for the sunrise (if the weather does not allow, this trip will be cancelled and the corresponding transfer fee will be refunded)

After we got down the mountain, we started our last day of hiking.

Following the mechanized farming roads dug by the locals and crossing simple wooden bridges, we arrived at Bawanghai on the south side of Gongga.

The braided rivers, winding around the branches of the dead trees, look like blue gems against the backdrop of the mountains and forests.

After wading through several small streams, we crossed the dense alpine forest to the parking lot and took the bus back.

【Note】: Due to the long journey on that day, the arrival time in Chongqing will be around 20:00 in the evening. Please prepare appropriate meals to avoid inconvenience on the way.
